The Galaxy Gear, Samsung's latest engineering marvel, is here in front of us. Today, the South Korean giant introduces company's first ever smart watch - Galaxy Gear. You can say Gear as a fashion accessory or companion to your Note 3.
It's not a smartphone by any means, but you can make or receive calls. The Galaxy Gear can take up notifications and can be used as a regular watch. The intelligent watch uses Bluetooth connection which makes the experience hassle free.

Samsung says Galaxy Gear will be compatible with latest Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition. But soon consumers having Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3 and Note 2 will be able to take advantage of Galaxy Gear.
Android 4.3 Jelly Bean mobile OS, is the real reason behind why Samsung's Galaxy Gear, is worth checking out. Talking about the specifications, the Gear comes with a 1.63-inch Super AMOLED display having resolution of 320 x 320 pixels.
Under the hood, there is a single core 800MHZ processor coupled with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory. Samsung promises up to 25 + hours of battery backup. Samsung Galaxy Gear comes in six dashing colors. The design of Galaxy Gear matters most to a smart watch buyer. A solid metallic frame (or dial) gives the watch solid feel. It's little chunky and over the top.
You can change rubberized wrist bands as per your choice. The watch also comes with a 1.9-mega pixel BSI sensor and 10-second 720p HD video recording is also possible. The makers have added a 315mAh non-removable battery. The control scheme is quite interesting. You can control the watch via your voice. There are two mics built-in for noise cancellation. Also add a loud speaker. Samsung S Voice is also compatible with Gear smart watch.
The most loud point of Samsung Galaxy Gear is surely support of third-party apps. Samsung has partnered with 70 app makers. Popular apps including Evernote , Path, RunKeeper and MyFitnessPal are coming to Galaxy Gear.
Samsung says Galaxy Gear to be made globally in September 2013. In the US, Galaxy Gear will be made available to consumers at $299 (Rs 20,000 Approx.). Stay tuned to GizBot.
Samsung Galaxy Gear is not a Smartphone
The Galaxy Gear watch is not a smartphone. Yes, it can take/receieve calls that does not mean Samsung Galaxy Gear is a full fledged phone. Samsung S Voice works with Galaxy Gear. We still believe that Pebble watch is far better than Samsung made smart watch. Galaxy Gear is compatible with other Android powered handsets or not. Samsung is yet to clarify this statement.
The biggest selling point of Samsung Galaxy Gear is the coming of support from developers front. Leading app developers have shown interest in Galaxy Gear. Samsung also announces Gear Store to download apps for your smart watch.
The Samsung Galaxy Gear comes fitted with a non-removable battery. Sammy says the device can run up to 25 hours on single charge.
No compatibility with iOS
The Galaxy Gear is not compatible with Apple iPhone or any device powered by iOS. Bad luck folks !
Camera and UI
The Samsung Galaxy Gear comes with a low grade camera. The UI is not slick and intuitive.
