One of the most awesome products that Samsung announced at the pre-IFA event in Berlin back in September was the virtual reality headset, which the company called by the name of Gear VR. Now rumors regarding the availability of the device has started appearing on the internet world.
Latest rumor suggests that Samsung will make the head-mounted accessory finally available in the select markets starting December 1. According to the leaked document, the Samsung Gear VR might first reach its home turf Korea on December 1 - followed by other regions.
The document, spotted by GforGames website, also indicates a KRW 200,000 price tag which translates to approx. Rs. 11,500. However, users would also need the Galaxy Note 4 to use the Gear VR headset
Notably, last month the Samsung Gear VR virtual reality headset went up for pre-order via a third-party retailer in the UK, revealing pricing details.
South Korean giant claims that the newly announced Gear VR has been optimised for the Galaxy Note 4 smartphone, which will be used as the VR headset's display. The Galaxy Note 4 features a 5.7-inch Quad-HD (1440x2560 pixel) Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 515pi.
The Samsung Gear VR is built with a soft, flexible cushioning and lightweight materials. It works wirelessly and features high frame rate of up to 60fps. It comes with sensors such as accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetic, and proximity sensor, while measures 198x116x90mm. The device offers 96 degree field of view. Samsung has also tied up with companies such as Marvel, DreamWorks, and Legendary Pictures for the content of the Gear VR.
