Sony Launches Lightning Plug Equipped iPhone Clock Radio Dock

Sony went on to unveil its latest additions to the Personal Audio equipment list, including the NFC-enabled Bluetooth speakers and the waterproof Walkman MP3 headphones in CEC 2013. Now the company has added yet another inclusion, which happens be a lightning plug equipped clock radio dock for iPhone 5 and new iPod.

The device having the model name SRS-GC11IP was spotted on Sony's website in Japan, with the status message saying "coming soon". SRS-GC11IP comes equipped with a clock, a AM and FM radio and a sleep timer and more impotently a 0.8W speaker. Users can mount their lighting-ready iDevice and play tunes straight from the device. Whats more the dock comes with a remote, so you don't have to walk up to the device, each time, you feel like changing the music.

Phone arena says that the new peripheral from Sony might be made available from April 18th onwards, for a price of ¥6,980 3882.28.There is no news about if and when the device will be made available outside Japan

Sony has a history of making various forms of clock radios, for example the ICF-C218/B which Entry Clock Radio with Green LED Display which is available in India for Rs 1,490. SRS-GC11IP is a little different, although, it sticks to the roots of providing simple functions, rather then supporting advanced specs such as Wi-Fi connectivity or Bluetooth.
