Blizzard known as the creators of Diablo game series has published their financial earnings and hinted on the possibility of Diablo 3 game getting an expansion soon. When they launched Diablo 3 game in May, it broke all their sales records and as per the official sources, around 3.5 million units of the game were sold on the first day. The current estimates show that 10 million units have been sold through different distribution channels, both online and offline.
While announcing the impressive performance of his company and game, Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick stated, “Year-to-date, Diablo 3 is the top-selling game overall based on enough meta, digital and retail sales in North America and Europe.“ Experts believe that this is a huge milestone to achieve since the game is available only on traditional platform like Mac and PC and it is not available on the new generation popular consoles like Sony PSP and Microsoft Xbox.
Talking on the occasion, Blizzard president Mike Morhaime confirmed that they will start working on an expansion of Diablo 3 game soon, but was not ready to divulge more details stating that it is too early to give any more details.
It may be recalled that Blizzard had already released many patches giving more functionalities and features to make the Diablo 3 game more interesting for the users. We can expect that firm will come up with something unique and significant in the new expansion which is being planned.
However, on the flip side, users are still worried that some of their popular demands and earlier promises from the company like a player to player direct competitive mode are yet to be made available. The company may have to give attention to such issues as well if they want to keep up their good position in the gaming market.
