At the E3 press conference, Microsoft today announced that the Xbox One will be available in India starting September 23 at a price point of Rs. 39,990. The Xbox One with Kinect will cost Rs. 45,990.
Both models will come bundled with a 500 GB hard drive, Xbox Box wireless Controller, and a free 14-day trial of Xbox Live Gold for new members.
The official press release notes that the Xbox India launch-lineup will be phenomenal with epic titles including AAA titles like "Forza Horizon 2" and "Halo: The Master Chief Collection," which comes with the highly anticipated "Halo 5: Guardians" multiplayer beta.
"We will have more details about launch game bundles, ways to pre-order and a full list of games and entertainment experiences in the near future. For now, we're excited to confirm the next generation of games and entertainment will be coming to fans in India starting on 23rd Sept 2014."
Earlier this year Microsoft had hinted September time frame for Xbox One launch for Indian gamers. Microsoft's biggest competitor in gaming, Sony, launched its PlayStation 4 (PS4) in January of this year at a price of Rs. 39,990. Microsoft's maiden entry with the Xbox One is roughly 9 months late, giving Sony a jump start in the next-gen console war.
Last month, Microsoft announced a cheaper Xbox One to directly match the PlayStation 4's $399 price. Sales of the Xbox One have clearly lagged in comparison to Sony's PS4 console. At the ongoing E3 gaming conference, Microsoft showed off 22 new titles at its press conference in Los Angeles.
