It seems as though our prediction could well be correct with the release date of Watch Dogs being set for May 27, 2014. Ubisoft has today revealed that the Watch Dogs release date is scheduled for May 27 for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
Watch Dogs is a brand new IP from Ubisoft, the makers of hit games like Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag and Splinter Cell: Blacklist. The game will hit worldwide on May 27, as per the official press release issued by Ubisoft.
The action-adventure game was originally planned as a launch title for PS4 and Xbox One. But the developers took the decision to delay the game for something better.
"We are pleased to be able to reveal to gamers all over the world the new release date for Watch Dogs," said Geoffroy Sardin, EMEA Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Ubisoft. "We are extremely confident that the additional time we afforded the dev team to refine and polish the game will be more than worth the wait."
In the meantime, Sony has confirmed that the company will offer Watch Dogs bundles for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in Europe that include a console and a copy of the game. Moreover, gamers will get an additional 60 minutes of exclusive gameplay on PS3 and PS4 via the PlayStation network.
Although there were rumors in the past that Ubisoft had scrapped the Wii U edition of the Watch Dogs, but today the publisher reiterated that the Watch Dogs for Wii U "will release at a later date".
