Chinese companies are the main players of Indian smartphone market from last two years or so. With many manufacturers fighting out for the best place in smartphone arena, there's one company which is smart enough to also strengthen its foothold in the Smart TV category in the Indian market. And that's LeEco.
The LeEco range of televisions are pretty cheap and premium at the same time, when compared to the price tags of that present in the market.
The company sent a review unit of the LeEco Super 3 X65 Smart TV and, here is what we found, were the pros and cons of the Super 3 X65 TV after using it extensively.
The LeEco Super 3 X65 UHD TV comes with a design language which is on-par with other manufacturers design. We term the design as the 'No Nonsense Design'. The company, however, calls the TV's design as 'Yoga' design.
A Display with Good Viewing Angles
The LeEco Super 3 X65 UHD TV packs a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels which is a 4K resolution display with brightness levels up to 350 nits. The viewing angles are more than fine and the TV can be wall mounted.
Commendable Audio Output
The TV exhibits good audio output via the speakers. The TV can deliver up to 20W of audio output and has some additional features such as Dolby and DTS Premium Sound. The sound can fill an entire house and we can enable the Dolby mode when watching HD videos for better listening experience.
The Smart TV is Smart Enough!
The TV comes with Android Lollipop with the company's own EUI on top of it. Unlike its smartphone's UI, the UI on the Super TV X65 is clean and very simple to understand.
There are not many apps installed, even the Google Play doesn't come installed. Also, we can't sideload it either. The LeEco's Live mode allows you to browse through various channels coming directly from Yupp TV as seen on their smartphones.
Smart Remote has TrackPad
The Smart Remote comes bundled with the TV itself. The unique feature of this remote is the 'Air Mouse' which is basically the trackpad as seen on laptops and helps in navigating through the content.
The Smart Remote also takes screenshots with a single click, which is a nice added feature.
Display Doesn't Inspire Confidence in 720p Resolution
As said earlier, the LeEco X65 Super TV comes with a 4K resolution display. However, the display doesn't inspire confidence when playing videos of 720p quality and one needs to make sure that they always want to watch HD content on this TV.
EUI is Buggy at times
The EUI is very simple and easily understandable, however, it is way too buggy when compared to other manufacturer's user interface on TV's. Considering the fact that it is the initial release of the UI, LeEco will address all the bugs in near future and make the UI stable with software updates.
Screen Mirroring Slacks a Bit
It might be because of the software issue, but the screen mirroring feature on the LeEco TV lags after a while, one might end up getting irritated, approximately after a usage of 30 minutes or more. We also faced lip syncing issue at times, while playing videos from YouTube. However, it's not one feature that everyone uses on a daily-basis.
Not the best TV for gamers
Well, LeEco Super 3 X65 Smart TV might be one of the best 4K television options which we can count on in the market for normal television viewing, however it might not be the best choice for gamers, especially if you're a FIFA or soccer games fan. At a refresh rate of 60hz, we faced lags while playing the games and won't recommend this device for gaming enthusiasts.
IN THE END: Price verdict
A must buy for a cinematic experience in your living room, as it's a 4K on a budget. The Super3 X55 is priced at Rs. 59,790, LeEco Super3 X65 is priced at Rs. 99,790 while the Super3 Max65 (3D variant) comes at a price of Rs. 149,790.
The viewing experience on HD channels is decent enough, but the movies in the LeVidi apps is way better, LeEco should try updating their content library on a regular basis, as we could find only a handful of movie options in the store.
To conclude, LeEco Smart TV range is here to create sizzling waves in the Indian television market, and it's worry time for the Sony's, Samsung's and LG's.
We give a 7.5 out of 10, if you're planning to buy this one. As, no one in the market right now, is offering such an amazing television experience at such a budget-friendly price tag.
