How to directly share a folder of files in dropbox?
Dropbox is one of the most popular tools that can be used for file sharing. One of the major advantages of Dropbox is that it is quick and easy to use as well as accessible from any computer.Here we will discuss the ways in which users can directly share a folder of files in the dropbox.Creating a Public Link
- Download Dropbox
- Install Dropbox on the users computer
- Then the users will have to run the Dropbox installer
- Now the users will have to drag the Dropbox icon
- Finally double click the Dropbox icon
Sharing Single Files
- After setting up the Dropbox, users will have to right-click or they can also control-click a single file on the user’s Dropbox public folder
- Then users will have to click on the ‘Dropbox’
- Select ‘Copy Public Link’ that is shown in the drop down menu that is used for creating a link
- Finally the users can transfer the link to the receiver for the purpose of downloading
- It has to be noted that Dropbox will not let the user send a direct link straight to a regular folder of files that is represented in their public folder
- If the user would wish to share their folder, they will have to click on the ‘Share this Folder’ tab
Creating a Zip FileUsers can add the Zip files to their Dropbox Public Folder. The Zip file decompresses as well as opens like a normal folder with the content present inside it.Steps involved in creating a Zip file;
- Control-click or right-click a folder of files
- Then the users will have to select the ‘Compress’ option
- Zip file will be created on the desktop of the user
- Move the created Zip file to the dropbox public folder
- Right-click on it
- Select ‘Copy Public Link’
- Clicking of the link will automatically download the Zip file
Automate the process with AutomatorAutomator is a free application that arrives installed in Mac OS X.
- Go to Applications Folder
- Open the Automator
- Click on the ‘Service’ icon
- Then the users will have to click on the ‘Choose’ button
- Users will now have to alter the settings in the drop-down menu that is provided
- Choose the option ‘Files or folders’ for ‘Service receives selected’ tab and ‘Finder.app’ against the ‘in’ tab
- Now users will have to click on ‘Library’ that is present in the Automator
- Then in the search column, search for ‘Create Archive’
- Now the users will have to drag the create archive on to the pane that denotes workflow
- Alter the ‘Where’ to the ‘Public’ Dropbox folder option
- Then the users will have to checkmark the option that denotes ‘Show this action when the workflow runs’ box
- Save the workflow
- Click on ‘Finder’
- Then click on ‘SaveAsZipFile’
