How to install Google Drive on PC/Mac?

Google launched Google Drive, the much anticipated cloud storage service on Tuesday. The service is not available for all. It will come to all the users gradually. Some of you might have noticed that the service was not available on the day of launch. It has a button 'Notify me' which will intimate you when the service is available by sending an email.

If you are among those who have received the service, here is a brief tutorial on how to install the Google Drive on PC/Mac and use it right from your PC/Mac.

Windows

• Go to http://www.drive.google.com.


• Click on the Download Google Drive for PC button at the left.


• Open the downloaded .exe file, googledrivesync.exe to install and start with the Google Drive for PC.


• Enter the username and password of your Google account in the window that opens. This will be the account associated with Drive for your PC.


• Launch Google Drive for PC from Start menu. Drag the files and folders to the Drive folder to start syncing the items to My Drive.

Mac

• Go to http://www.drive.google.com.


• Click on the Download Google Drive for Mac button at the left.


• Open insbtallgoogledrive.dmgand drag the Google Drive icon to the Applications Folder.


• Open Google Drive from the Applications Folder.


• Enter the username and password of your Google account in the window that opens. This will be the account associated with Drive for your Mac.


• Complete the installation package instructions.


• Launch Google Drive from the tollbar. Drag the files and folders to the Drive folder to start syncing the items to My Drive.

This way you can download and install the Google Drive service to your PC/Mac.
