How to Make a Call Or Send SMS When Your Mobile Phone Shows Zero Balance?
There could be many situations during which subscribers would like to make a call or send a SMS while they have zero balance in their prepaid account. Have you faced such a situation?
To help the consumers come out of such an annoying circumstance, few service providers including Airtel, Vodafone, Reliance and Idea Cellular have come up with a service dubbed as “Call with Zero Balance”.
Using this service, one can request the other person for a call or SMS you or ask the service provider to give a call or SMS during emergency.
While some telcos offer this service for free some others charge a nominal fee for it. Moreover, the service could vary depending on the operator from network to network or circle to circle.
Airtel
Airtel users can use the “Call me Back” service while there is no account balance. Subscribers will simply have to dial #141 from the prepaid mobile number and a pop up window will open with several options including share talktime, gift pack, ask for talktime and call me back SMS. All the user has to do is select an option based on the requirement. With this service, the consumers can send up to 5 Call Me Back SMS per month for free.
Vodafone
Vodafone users can transfer their balance to a friend, provided the two of them are in the same circle. In order to transfer the balance to a friend, you have to dial *131*MRP*Friend's number#. For instance, if you dial *131*25*1234567890, your friend with the mobile number 1234567890 will receive Rs 25 talktime from your account.
To use this service, Vodafone applies a nominal charge and both the mobile users should have been in Vodafone network for a minimum of 90 days.
Idea Cellular
As the same of the telco, Idea Cellular's service called “Idea Lifeline” lets consumers to make a call with zero balance. The users will have dial 53567 and a balance of Rs 3 will be credited to their account. This service has a nominal charge, which will be detected the next time the user does a recharge or top-up.
Likewise Vodafone, the consumers who have been using Idea network for over 90 days are only eligible for this service.
Reliance
Reliance has also started the Mera Network service under which users can make a call at zero balance. To activate this service, the user has to send a SMS stating ACT CC to 53739.
