Gone are the days when you buy a set up box that is able to merely receive the satellite signals and displaying it in Television. Recording a live broadcast as well as playing it and pausing it were absolutely impossible in those days! But now those technological limitations are a matter of the past!

Technology has advanced itself in such a way that now users can have a more live television experience by playing and pausing whenever they wish to do the same.  The only requisite for having this real-time TV experience is a new set top box. In an emerging country like India, the common set top box providers include Tata Sky, Reliance Big TV and also Airtel and Dish TV. Users need to spend somewhere around Rs.5, 000 if they wish to have a set top box with these technological advancements.

If you ask what makes this dream come true is that now the set top boxes are equipped with a maximum of 250 GB of in-built SATA Hard Drive that has the capability to record a whopping 200 hours of television videos and almost 30 minutes of Live TV pausing!

How to pause Live TV using set top box?

The set top box provided by the service providers in India usually has certain limitations. Some of them are;

  • Pausing and recording can only be done in the particular set top box.

  • Cannot transfer the videos to any other media player.

  • Can’t write the recorder videos on to a DVD and store them.

Even though the users have an option of installing a TV Tuner card on a personal computer, it is not desirable, since lot of electricity will be wasted! Save Electricity!

Let me make it simple. The setting up of the connection with the set top box mainly consists of three components being used. That includes;

  • Set Top Box.

  • HMR-350H DVR.

  • Television.

Let’s explain the features of HMR-350H DVR. This is mainly a Desktop SATA Hard Drive that comes with 1TB Capacity and can do the functions such as pausing, playing as well as recording.

The connections between these three devices are quite simple and once the connections are finished, users can very well go ahead and can definitely enjoy the functionalities such as pausing, playing as well as recording.

The wired connections are given in the diagram and the users are suggested to connect it accordingly.

There are mainly 5 options that are available and each differs in functionality. Let’s take a close look.

Option 1

  • It mainly deals with the connection of HDMI input port from the DVR to TV.

  • This allows the passage of signals from the DVR that you have connected in to the corresponding TV.

  • The signals will be transmitted in Full High Definition.

  • Now with the internal DVR’s storage, users can now pause or record and even play the Live TV broadcast without making any changes in the connection.

Option 2

  • If the HDMI port is absent in the TV, and then the connection will be established from the component video input of DVR on to the TV.

  • This leads to the passage of signals from DVR to TV in full definition.

Option 3

  • If both HDMI port as well as Component Video is absent, then it’s preferable to establish the composite video connection from DVR to TV.

Option 4

  • Users can also establish a connection from HDMI port that is present in the set top box in to the corresponding TV. In this scenario, users can very well switch off their DVR completely.

  • This allows the passage of signals from the set top box that you have connected in to the corresponding TV.

  • The signals will be transmitted in Full High Definition.

  • Now with the internal set top box’s storage, users can pause or record and even play the Live TV broadcast without making any changes in the connection.

Option 5

  • If the HDMI input port is absent in the set top box, and then the users are suggested to connect the component video input from the set top box to the TV.

By following these connections, users can pause as well as record the Live TV broadcast with the help of set top box.
