How to update Samsung Galaxy S2 with Android ICS 4.0.1 firmware
Here is the good news for all those android lovers, Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.1 has finally arrived! It’s for sure that it is going to be a party time for all those android smartphone customers out there who will be thinking to update their smartphone, and yes; to the latest Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. Let it be your New Year Resolution!
Here are a few instructions regarding the step by step procedure to update your Samsung Galaxy S2 to the all new android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.
But before that there are certain steps that the users will have to take note of before updating their respective phones. And the prerequisites are given as follows;
Create a back up of all the files
Transferring all the users data on to the SD card
Disabling of all the system tools that have been installed on the users computer
USB debugging should be enabled
Users will have to initially download Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.1 zip package
Then the users will have to extract the contents of the ZIP file
Once the extraction of files are done, turn off the smartphone
Now switch the phone in to the download mode by pressing the Volume down key as well as home button simultaneously and at the same time pressing the power button
Users will now have to run the Odin3 v1.83 which is present in the folder or directory from where the users have extracted their files
By means of a USB cable, users will now have to connect their smartphone on to the computer
Then the users will have to wait for sometime until the ID:COM turns to yellow color
Then set the configuration
Place the necessary files on to Odin

Then click start to initiate updation of the firmware
Incase the update fails in the middle of the process, the only thing that users can do from their point of side is to disconnect the phone from the computer
Then users will have to reinsert the battery
Then repetition of the whole process is required
After the successful updation of the phone, disconnection is done leaving the Odin completely open on the computer
Again turn the phone off
Then the users will again have to switch it on to the download mode
Reconnect the phone to the computer
Select the file from Odin

After the updation is completed, it will reboot.
And then it will ask for the Google account in order to access the Google powered applications
Users will have to make sure that they have internet connection with them
If the user need to confirm that the update was successful, they will have to navigate towards Settings> About Phone> Firmware version
Now the users can see that the version will be denoted as Android 4.0.1
