How to use FTP client in Windows 7
FTP is also known as File Transfer protocol which mainly deals with the transfer, uploading and downloading of files from the FTP server if you enable the client in the specified Windows 7 operating system.
Some of the common FTP clients that are used include CuteFTP, SmartFTP and FreeFTP. But other than these popular names one of the most popular free open source FTP solutions comes from FileZilla which has found many takers owing to its user friendly characteristics. The downloading procedures are given as follows:
Go to filezilla-project.org.
Press the button that denotes ‘Download FileZilla Client’.
Using the Quick Connect Bar.
Enter the Host name.
Enter the User name.
Enter the password.
Enter the port number.
Press the Quick Connect button.
Using the Site Manager.
Navigation is denoted as File > Site Manager.
A dialogue box will be opened which contains FTP site descriptions.
Click New Site.
Provide a name for the specified site.
Again go to General tab.
Enter Host name.
Select the Server Type.
The server type depends on the FTP server.
Log on will also vary based on server type.
Enter Password.
Enter Account Name.
On the left of the screen, you can see Local Site which may be a folder on your personal computer.
On the right side, you can see the presence of Remote Site.
On the Remote Site you can see a + sign. The clicking of that option expands the directory from which you can choose the specified location you want to upload to.
From the Local site, you will have to select the specified location from the directory where you want to upload the file from.
Double click the file that you wish to upload.
Drag it to the Remote Site file listing option.
You can also press Enter.
If several files are present, Right-click and select “Add To Queue”.
