How to use YouTube video editor? – Part 1
YouTube video editor can be considered as a free tool that is available in YouTube which allows the users in editing their own uploaded clips as well as other clips.
Uses of Video Editor
Developing a new video by means of combining the multiple videos uploaded by the user
Trimming of the videos to the custom lengths of the users wish
Addition of sound tracks from the users library of approved tracks
Customization of the clips combined with special tools and effects
Thus with the implementation of these tools, users can easily create new videos instead of worrying about the file formats. Users can finally upload the new video on to YouTube with just a single click.
For accessing the YouTube video editor
Users can either navigate to http://www.youtube.com/editor
Or else users will have to login to their YouTube account with their login credentials
Users will then have to click on their name in the upper right side of the YouTube
A menu will pop-up
Then the users will have to click Video Manager
Finally users will have to select the Video Editor at the top of the page
Adding Clips
The uploads that are used in a video editor is often called a clip
The combination of up to 50 clips will give the users a new video
The clips that the users can add for creating a video can be found on the top left section of the page known as Media Picker
Select the clips that users wish to edit
Users can either select their own uploads which they like to Edit or else they can select pre-approved Commons Licensed Videos
Selecting the + icon will add the clip to the Timeline
It is also possible for the users to drag and drop the clip down towards the storyboard timeline
Trimming Clips
Users will have to first click on the clip that they wish to edit on the Timeline
Users will now be able to see two bars with horizontal lines on the left as well as right side of each clip
The bars on either sides represents the beginning as well as end of the users video
By means of dragging the left or right bar to the other side, users can shorten the clip
Now it can be lengthened again by means of dragging the bar to either left or right
At the time of trimming, users will be able to see the time duration of the clips getting shorter as well as longer
