8 Smart Ways to Fix Bad Reception Issues on your Cell Phone: Problems and Fixes
Well no one likes a bad reception or reoccurring call drops, so we have some of the tips and tricks that might get you best reception that you were looking for and enjoy the uninterrupted conversations with your loved ones.
1. Type & Make of your Phone
Cause: Well not every cell phone model has a good in-built antenna and not every model comes from the same manufacturer. For e.g. A Samsung S3 can be manufactured in three different countries with different components from various suppliers so maybe your model may not be optimal with your network provider as other models.
Solution: Ask the seller for a feedback on reception quality before buying that particular handset. And make sure your mobile phone model is made in the best manufacturing environment; you can do so by using the IME number of the model.
2. Apps
Cause: Too many apps, free apps and open or running apps can cause a lot of reception noise or disturbance in rather perfect reception.
Solution: Avoid stuffing your phone with too many apps especially the free ones and make sure you close those unwanted or inactive apps.
3. Poor Operating System
Cause: Not every upgrade is profitable. Sometimes an upgrade in your cell phone OS can actually hamper with your cell reception.
Solution: Carefully opt for upgrades and if the new update is not working for you then ask for a technical assistance that can help you get back your old operating system.
4. Peak Hours (Telephonic Traffic)
Cause: In some areas there are times when the usage of mobile signals is increased so you might get a little or jammed reception.
Solution: Well frankly speaking there is no clear solution to this problem except to wait and watch but in case you face this problem regularly then you might want to get an signal booster installed.
5. Travel
Cause: It is difficult for your cell phone to jump from one cell tower to another and metal body of trains and buses can disrupt the signal too.
Solution: Here you can use a signal booster called a cradle which has a magnetic mount outside antenna. It is affordable and handy but you will have to use a Bluetooth headset or use the speaker phone while talking.
6. Tower Proximity
Cause: A less amount of area coverage by your nearest cell tower or a weaker signal may result into low or weak signal. Basically the distance between you and your nearest tower determines the quality of signal that you get.
Solution: Keep your phone charged up at good level so that it can work under weak signal. Face yourself in the direction of your nearest cell tower and stand possibly next to a window. Also sometimes holding your phone slightly upside down can also work as most of the in-built antennas are at the bottom side of a mobile.

7. Interference
Cause: Elements like hills, mountains and trees create the most disruption while structures and materials like building, concrete, metal and wire mesh can also obstruct the signal.
Solution: You can install a signal booster at your home or office that collects the signal from outside through an antenna and passes that through a cable into your home or office. Now this signal is amplified and broadcasted into the bad reception areas. The same process is carried in a reverse fashion too (i.e. from mobile to tower) in order to ensure a strong two way communication.
8. Service Provider
Cause: Well some network providers work great in some areas and not in some. Every one of them has their strong areas.
Solution: Find out which service provider has the best coverage in your area. You can simply do this by asking friends and family as they can tell that by their personal experience.
