How to install iOS 10 on iPhone 6s, 6, SE, 5s, and 5 in India [Step-by-Step Tutorial]

Apple announced the iOS 10 - its biggest iOS release yet, at the WWDC conference this year in San Francisco recently. And since then, the Cupertino-based tech giant rolled out a series of beta versions to developers just to release its final public version smoothly.

On September 13, the iOS 10 was made public by pushing OTA (over-the-air) update including India. Of course, you can also install the update via iTunes if you choose not to update over-the-air.

Here's a step by step guide to install the Apple's latest operating system on your iPhone/iPad.

But, before you do that we recommend you to check the exhaustive list below to know if your device supports iOS 10 or not:

And all the other iPhone/iPad owners, unfortunately, can't update to the iOS 10 since your devices are not compatible with the Apple's latest OS.

Before installing the update, we recommend you to back up your data to iCloud or your PC/Mac via iTunes. It's unlikely that you'll use any of your data but, in case you do, a backup will always come handy.

Method 1: Over-the-air update

STEP 1: Once the update is rolled out over-the-air (which already happened on September 13) you'll see a pop-up on your screen indicating that an update is available.

STEP 2: If you don't receive this notification, you can simply open Settings > General > Software Update to force your iPhone/iPad to manually check.

STEP 3: Now tap on 'download iOS 10' to download the update. Once it's done, tap install and agree to the terms and conditions. Your device will restart and voila, you are updated to the iOS 10.

Method 2: Via iTunes

To update your device via iTunes you should make sure that your PC/Mac is running the latest version of iTunes (currently 12.4.3).

Once you download the latest version of iTunes do the following:

STEP 1: As soon as you connect your device (iPhone/iPad/iPod touch) you should be able to see a notification saying that a software update is available. If you don't receive this message, select your device from the device list and click the 'Check for Update button.'

STEP 2: A prompt will show up on the screen asking you to download and install the update. Click ok on it. Do note that disconnecting your device during this process will stop the device from updating.

STEP 3: Once the installation is finished, your device will restart and you are good to use it.
