Google Doodle honours the 'Milkman of India' on his 94th birth anniversary
Google Honored Dr Verghese Kurien, better known as "Milkman of India" and also the Father of the the White Revolution. Dr Kurien is man behind organisations like Amul and Anand Milk co-operative. Kurien is especially known for Amul and the range of dairy products that Amul became successful with that includes Milk, Cheese and Ice Cream.

Kurien made India the world's largest milk producer, an upliftment from being a milk-deficient country. Dr Kurien has been credited to lifitng millions of people out of poverty in India with the help of the Milk co-operatives he founded. He has received global and national recognition for his invaluable contribution.
The New Google Doodle shows Dr Kurien sitting on a stool and holding some milk cans with some cattle in the background.Born into a Syrian Christian family in Kerala, Dr Kurien graduated in Physics from Loyola College in Chennai in 1940 after which he completed his Mechanical Engineering from the University of Madras.
Often known as the Milkman of India,it was under the leadership of Dr Kurien that Anand, Gujarat became the milk capital of the country. He was the founder Chairman of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) from 1965 to 1998, the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd. (GCMMF), from 1973 to 2006 and the Institute of Rural Management (IRMA) from 1979 to 2006, which are owned, managed by farmers and run by professionals.

Dr Verghese Kurien was awarded Padma Vibhushan by the Government of India. He was also awarded the International Person of the Year award by the World Dairy Expo.
Apart from all the accolades both national and international, Kurien has also received 15 honorary degrees. The Google Doodle is an Honor the Milkman of India on his 94th Birth Anniversary.
