HP India recently launched the Spectre notebook, touted as the world's thinnest device in its segment. The HP Spectre is the company's premium range laptop that has been launched for a price starting at Rs 1,19,990. The new ultra thin laptop is clearly targeted at the Apple MacBook that was known to be the thinnest laptop until HP unveiled the Spectre.

The HP Spectre is a thin, powerful Windows 10 laptop that will be taking on Apple's Macbook in the premium segment. We compare the two on the basis of their specs to understand the key differences between the two laptops.

A bigger display or higher resolution!

HP Spectre features a 13.3-inch display with 1920x1080 pixels resolution, which is bigger than the 12-inch QHD screen on Apple MacBook. However, the latter's screen packs in more pixels with 2304x1440 pixels resolution.

Powerful processing for speedy performance:

HP Spectre is powered by 2.5GHz 6th Generation Intel Core i7 processor paired with Intel HD Graphics 520, whereas Apple MacBook runs on 1.1GHz dual-core Intel Core m3 processor/1.2GHz dual-core Intel Core m5 processor with Intel HD Graphics 515. Technically, HP ensures better processing speed and performance, considering it runs latest gen chipset, whereas Macbook's hardware has been considered good for its software and features, as per Apple's claims.

Similar RAM and storage space

As far as the RAM size is concerned, HP Spectre as well as Apple MacBook, both laptops feature 8GB of RAM for smooth processing of the devices. As for storage space, you get 512GB of native storage on HP's Spectre, whereas Apple MacBook is available in both 256GB and 512GB options.

More connectivity options despite slim profile:

When it comes to connectivity port, HP Spectre gives users a plenty of connectivity options including a USB 3.1 Gen 1 (Type-C, HP USB Boost), two USB 3.1 Gen 2 (Type-C, HP USB Boost, Thunderbolt), whereas Apple Macbook users get just USB 3.1 Gen 1.

Camera specs:

In the camera department, HP Spectre features a HP TrueVision HD Camera, where as the Apple MacBook adorns a 480p FaceTime camera.

Thinnest but not the lightest!

HP Spectre is ridiculously thin at 10.4mm, whereas the Apple Mackbook measures in at 13.1mm in thickness. However, the Apple machine is lighter in weight (0.92 kg) than the Hp's Spectre which weighs in at 1.11 kg.

Bigger battery runs longer!

Speaking of battery capacity, HP Spectre is powered by a 41.4 W battery, where as to juice the Apple Macbook up there is a 45 W battery.

Price and availability:

The HP Spectre will be available in India for a price starting from Rs 1,19,900, starting from July 25, where as the Apple Macbook's price starts at Rs 1,06,900.
