Samsung seems to have made a comeback to the laptop market with the ATIV Series of devices. In fact the ATIV Book 9 Pro is the first laptop by Samsung to feature a 4K display.
The Samsung ATIV Book 9 Pro comes with a 15.6" 4K (3840x2160p) touchscreen display. Under the hood is a 6th gen Intel i7-6700HQ chip with cores clocked at 2.6GHz. This is coupled with a 2GB of NVIDIA GeForce GTX950M graphics card. Besides that the ATIV Book 9 Pro comes with an 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage.
Furthermore the laptop comes with one USB 3.1 port (Type C Port) alongside three USB 3.0, 4K HDMI out, 3.5mm Headphone/Mic jack and a SD Card Reader. The Samsung ATIV laptop also features a Backlit Keyboard and weighs around 2kg (4.45lbs). Despite the high end specs, the disappointing part with the Samsung ATIV Book 9 Pro is the battery as Samsung claims that laptop can deliver upto 6.5 hours of battery life. However its low battery life is natural considering the fact that the laptop features a power hungry 4K display and an Intel i7 SoC. Do note that the standard laptops have a battery life of around 3-4 hours.
Alongside the Book 9 Pro, Samsung also launched a two-in-one dubbed the ATIV Book 9 Spin. Apparently the hinge of the laptop can be rotated all around (360 degree) thereby allowing you to use the device is either of these three modes - laptop, tented screen as well as a tablet. The display of the ATIV Book 9 Spin is markedly smaller at 13.3" and features a QHD+ (3200x1800p) touch panel. Under the hood of this convertible is a 6th gen Intel i7 SoC with cores clocked upto 2.5GHz.
"Our new laptops show Samsung's continued dedication to providing the best options for consumers so they can stay fully connected and productive from anywhere. The Pro and Spin both feature gorgeous touch screens, lighter designs, and seamless connectivity within the Samsung ecosystem and represent our continued effort to innovate in the PC market," said Gary Riding, Senior Vice President, Mobile Computing at Samsung Electronics America.
The Korean electronics giant have apparently tweaked their ATIV laptop to utilize real time HDR enhancements to optimize brightness and contrast for all types of content. Furthermore there is an Outdoor Mode which can deliver upto 500 nits of brightness on the ATIV Pro and the 700 nits on ATIV Spin.
The ATIV Book 9 Pro and ATIV Book 9 Spin are exclusively available via the company's official website in US at $1,599 (Rs 1, 03,935 approx.) and $1,399 (Rs 90,935 approx.) respectively.
