On Tuesday, during Apple's quarterly earnings call, Tim Cook, the CEO of the Cupertino-based tech giant announced that Apple has reached $18 billion in profit.
This is the highest quarterly profit in the corporate history. He also added that they had a record sales of 74.5 million iPhone units in Q4. Moreover, they sold the prestigious billionth iOS device back in November 2014.
Tim Cook also mentioned that iPhone 6 Plus (64 GB) was the billionth iOS device they sold and they kept the same handset in the company's Cupertino headquarters as a mark for the milestone.
Speaking at the conference call, Tim Cook said, "It was truly a momentous quarter for iOS. On November 22nd, we shipped our 1 billionth iOS device. It was a Space Gray 64 gigabyte iPhone 6 Plus, which we've saved here at Apple,"
Philip Schiller, the Marketing Vice President of Apple also joined the milestone celebration by tweeting '1 Billion iOS devices shipped!!'

Tim Cook also said, that Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, convinced the highest number of Android users to switch to iOS.
It all started with a first generation iPhone in 2007, the mobile OS was called iPhone OS. Later, they re-branded the mobile OS with iOS. The recent iOS 8 devices (iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus) demand was too strong than any other iPhone ever released.
Reportedly more than 34,000 devices per hour were sold. For the first time, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were launched in a total of 130 countries making it to achieve record sales in a lesser time. These two iPhones contributed up to 10 million unit sales.
This year, Apple also made $16.1 billion in revenue from China, a category that includes mainland China as well as Hong Kong and Taiwan.
The revenue of Apple is growing year-by-year. Last year in Q3, they had a revenue of $57.6 billion which had grown to $74.6 billion in the Q4 making to reach a positive revenue growth of $18 billion. Apart from these Apple released iOS 8.1.3, a new update to the iOS 8 devices which will clear the bug of free space while installing OTA update. This update will also fix the Spotlight in displaying the app results.
