A revolution in the making: HTC Droid to run on the Android Gingerbraed Platform

Software updates are really important for smartphones. The mobile handset market has been constantly evolving and customers demand the best, ensuring that manufacturers don’t sit still and offer the latest technology to stay ahead of the competition. HTC knows that well.

HTC Droid Incredible was already updated to the Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread operating system (OS) in September 2011 while competing heavily against the then Android 2.2 Froyo-powered Motorola Droid. But the September update wasn’t properly experienced by all HTC Droid consumers as there was some difficulty in updating to the Gingerbread OS.

As a result, HTC Mobiles has come up with another Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread update. This update is only around 8.6 MB, and HTC has ensured there won’t be any issues with it this time. It’s simple enough for HTC Droid Incredible users to update now; all they need to do is head to Menu and then select Settings, and click on Software Update and then Check Now.

One of the vital features of the new Gingerbread update is a download manager application by which users can manage the downloaded file from the browser app or email. This is thanks to the manage applications tab that gives users detailed information about the applications that are active, the storage space they consume and their memory through a tab display that updates itself in real time.

Another feature of the update is that the words to be cut and copied can be easily selected. Pressing on a word for long will help you select a letter and doing it a second time helps you select the word. This makes downloading applications and updating the software a lot easier.

Now the VZ navigator works over the WLAN. Users can easily establish an Internet connection through Bluetooth. The other issue with the previous Gingerbread update HTC offered for Droid Incredible was trouble with sending MMS. That’s rectified and users can now save the audio files from their media messages. Vcards can now also be sent through SMS.

The updates appear to be so extensive that it’s almost like a new device that HTC has come up with. With new Gingerbread update songs can now be changed in the music player easily. All you need to do is click the Fast Forward button. The City ID application has been made right too. With the new Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread update HTC has made Droid Incredible a really must-have product that is ready to compete with the other Android handsets out there.
