Acer Iconia W4: 8 Inch Tablet with Windows 8.1 Unveiled

Acer has launched a successor to the Iconic W3 Windows 8 tablet. The Iconia W4 has an 8-inch display, and will run on Windows 8.1. The device will hit US stores later this month, followed by global release. The 32GB version of Iconia W4 is priced at $329 (Rs. 20,250), while the variant with 64GB will cost $379 (Rs. 23,359).

Acer had announced the Iconia W3 at this year's Computex 2013. The device didn't fare well in the market due to its low quality display and lackluster performance.

The Acer Iconia W4 is powered by Windows 8.1. The tablet will come with Office Home and Student 2013 edition pre-loaded. This time around, Acer has used an 8-inch IPS display having a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. Under the hood, a 1.8GHz fourth-generation Intel Bay Trail processor fitted inside.

There's a 5-megpixel rear facing camera with Auto Focus and a 2-megapixel front facing camera. The device is marginally lighter than its predecessor. The internal memory can be further expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card slot. Other connectivity features include: micro-USB, micro-HDMI and a microSD slot.

Alongside the Iconia W4, Acer also unleashed compatible accessories with the device. The Acer Crunch cover and a Crunch Keyboard will cost $40 (Rs. 2,443) and $80 (Rs. 4,887) in the market. Acer India is yet to confirm the release date of the Iconia W4. 


Lenovo Miix2

The Lenovo Miix2 has an 8-inch display having a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. The internal specifications are not bad at all nor the retail price. Under the hood, you will notice an Intel Bay Trail-T Quad Core processor, based on Intel AtomTM S architecture and integrated Intel HD Graphics (Gen7) with Clear Video HD technology for smooth video performance".

Other specifications include: 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM, 5-megapixel rear-facing and a 2-megepixel front-facing camera, 32GB/64GB of ROM (expandable up to a microSD card slot). The tablet device measures 8.1mm in terms of thickness and weighs 350 grams.

The tablet will ship with a Full version of MS Office Home and Student 2013 license. It also has a stylus, making the device productive in nature. The device will arrive later this month in two capacities: 32GB and 64GB. The 32GB model is priced at $299 (Rs. 18,200. Stay tuned to GizBot for more updates!
