Acer Unwraps Liquid E1, Liquid Z2 Prior To MWC 2013: All That You Need To Know Of Jelly Bean Newbies

Kicking off its 2013 smartphone lineup, the Taiwanese tech firm Acer has taken the wraps off its handsets in a pre-MWC announcement. Acer will be showcasing the handsets targeted at feature phone upgraders at the forthcoming tech show in Barcelona next week.

Both Liquid E1 and Z2 are dual SIM smartphones and are packed with impressive specs and multimedia features. Of the duo, Liquid Z2 comes with diminutive features and pricing as compared to Liquid E1. However, both the entry-level smartphones come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system.

Specifications

Lets take a sneak peak at the specifications of Acer Liquid E1 and Liquid Z2 below.

Dimensions & Weight: Liquid E1 carries a dimension of 132 x 68.5 x 9.9 mm and weighs in at 130 grams, whereas, the thicker and lighter Liquid Z2 packs a dimension of 110 x 62.5 x 12.25 mm and weighs around 110 grams.

Display: While Liquid E1 houses a 4.5 inch qHD IPS capacitive touchscreen display of 960 x 540 pixel resolution, Liquid Z2 packs a 3.5 inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen display with 480 x 320 pixel resolution.

Processor: In this segment, Liquid E1 is equipped with a 1GHz dual core processor and Liquid Z2 comes with a 1GHz single core processor.

Operating System: Both the handsets are based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box.

Camera: In terms of camera optics, Liquid E1 has a 5MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash and a 0.3MP front camera for video calling. In comparison, Liquid Z2 will have either a 3MP or 5MP rear camera and will not have a front camera for video calling.

Storage: Both the handsets have 4GB internal storage and micro SD card supporting up to 32GB additional storage. However, Liquid E1 has 1GB RAM and Liquid Z2 comes with 512MB RAM.

Connectivity: Again, both Liquid E1 and Z2 come packed with connectivity features including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 with ADR, 3G and GPS with aGPS.

Battery: Liquid E1 is powered by a 1,760 mAh battery and Liquid Z2 comes with a 1,300 mAh battery.

Float Caller Feature

Float Caller notification ensures that users will not be interrupted by incoming calls or messages by taking over the full screen while using apps or watching videos. Instead, a Float Caller notification window pops up and lets users take calls or reply with quick messages.

AcerCloud

Acer Cloud is a file sharing and media management solution that lets users easily retrieve, enjoy and share their multimedia and data files using a variety of computing devices. AcerCloud simplifies management of digital assets across mobile devices, regardless of platform and is free on new Acer devices.

Additional Features

Liquid E1 comes preloaded with features including Float Caller, Mood Agent, DTS Sound, Acer UI 5.0, AcerCloud apart from normal features such as Quick Mode, Google Search, Google Gallery/Music, Gmail, Gtalk, Google Play Store, Google maps, YouTube, Polaris Office Editor and Swype text input in Liquid Z2.

Price & Availability

Liquid E1 and Z2 will be available to buy in European markets initially, however, there is no word on the official pricing of the smartphones. It is speculated that Liquid E1 will be priced between €199 (approx. Rs 14,500) to €229 (approx. Rs 16,400). At the same time, Liquid Z2 will be available for pre-order for €100 (approx. Rs 7,200) and is believed to start shipping from February 28, 2013.
