Alcatel has launched some very impressive mobile handsets over the past years but they seem to be not much active in the sector when compared to other mobile phone manufacturers. Very recently Alcatel has come up with an Android powered dual SIM mobile. The gadget is termed as Alcatel Blaze Duo OT-918N.
The handset provides dual SIM as well as dual stand by support. This phone is being introduced into the entry level android segment.
Features and specifications of Alcatel Blaze Duo:
- Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system
- 650 MHz processor
- 256 MB RAM
- 3.2 inch screen
- LCD back lit type
- Screen resolution of 480 x 320 pixels
- 3 mega pixel camera
- GPS with assisted GPS support
- Bluetooth 3.0
The phone has a bar phone form factor and comes in a black colour scheme. The build quality of the phone is good and the overall physical structure seems very durable. Even though they are low level entries no cost reduction is made in terms of build materials.
This phone has an identical counter par named as the Alcatel OT-918D. The only difference between the two mobile phones in the 3G frequency bands and because of that the regions of availability will also differ. The OT-918D uses 900MHz and 2100MHz frequency band for its 3G connectivity. The 2G connectivity in both the devices are quad band i.e. they support 4 different network frequencies.
The phone packs in dual SIM support and the SIM placement is in a very unique way. Both the SIM cards are inserted into the same slot. The difference in the placement is that one of the SIM cards are inserted face down and the other SIM card is inserted face up. Since they have dual stand by the user can get calls and messages in both the SIM cards simultaneously. The user can decide from which SIM the outgoing call has to be made or a message has to be sent from.
Alcatel Blaze Duo OT-918N is available in Philippines and other Asian regions for a price tag of about Rs.7,000/- in India. The pricing seems to be very reasonable for such a feature rich Android powered mobile device.
