The software giant Google announced Android 4.4 Kitkat update last week alongside the much hyped Nexus 5 phablet. The LG made Nexus 5 which is one of the brightest Nexus hardware around, is being sold with Android 4.4 Kitkat from day one.

The Android 4.4 Kitkat update is coming to Google's flagship devices very soon. Since Nexus-branded devices are primarily purchased by users to get pure Android experience; so logically speaking they are among the first set of batch to get latest Android update.

Google has already clarified in the beginning that Nexus 7 (2012), Nexus 7 (2013), Nexus 10 and Nexus 4 would be getting the Android 4.4 Kitkat update in the coming days. The exact time frame is still unknown. However, it is expected that Google would release Android 4.4 Kitkat update for Nexus devices early next week. Apart from the regular Nexus devices, Google is also committed to support "Google Play Edition" devices.

Earlier this year, the Android maker launched special unlocked versions of Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One. Both of the devices come with stock Android experience.

"Android 4.4, KitKat, which comes on Nexus 5, will also soon be available on Nexus 4, 7, 10, the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One Google Play edition devices in the coming weeks,"

"KitKat "optimizes memory use in every major component" and provides "tools to help developers create memory-efficient applications" for "entry-level devices," such as those that have 512 megabytes of memory.

Unfortunately, those who own Samsung made Nexus phone (2011) should not wait to get Android 4.4 Kitkat update. Google has not stated a reason behind the incompatibilty between the update and the Samsung made Nexus phone. However, the device has a 1GB of RAM, enough to support Android 4.4.

Google India is all geared up to launch Nexus 10, Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 (2013) in the country. Reportedly, the Nexus 5 will soon land in India on November 12, which is just around the corner.

Hopefully, LG Nexus 5 will most likely to ship with Android 4.4 Kitkat out of the box. Talking about the Nexus 7 (2013) and Nexus 10(2012) would be getting Android 4.4 Kitkat update very soon.

Being one the top-tier Android smartphone manufacturer, Samsung would be releasing Android 4.4 Kitkat update for its Galaxy range of devices. Samsung has yet to comment on the availability of Android 4.4 on its devices.

Last time when Google released Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, Samsung was one of the first manufacturers to launch its big-ticket handset (Galaxy Note 3) running the latest software. As of now, Samsung hasn't disclose its plans to update its high-end devices (Galaxy S4, Note 3, Note 10.1 2014 Edition) to Android 4.4 Kitkat.

Recently, Samsung India informed that they will update as many as six devices to the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update. The devices include: Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note II, Galaxy S4 mini, Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy S4 Zoom. The latest update has been pushed due to the fact that Galaxy Gear is compatible with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. The update will arrive in the month of November.

Rumor has it that Samsung is expected to launch Galaxy S5 earlier next year; and, the device is said to ship with Android 4.4 Kitkat.

Another top tech vendor- Sony is in the midst of announcing Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for its Xperia range of devices.

Sony says that the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for select handsets will start rolling out next month. The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update will be effective starting next month for Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia SP, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1. Moreover, the Sony Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V, will be updated to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean from next month.

"We're pleased to tell you that we'll start rolling Android 4.3 for Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR,Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia SP, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 from next month*.

We also mentioned that a few of our products would be jumping software version - so, we can confirm that Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V* will be upgraded to Android Jelly Bean 4.3... also from next month."

Sony would release the Android 4.4 Kitkat update on the big-ticket handsets soon. The following handsets: Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1, are eligible to get Android 4.4 Kitkat update. However, Sony hasn't stated any specific time frame, as when users would be able to update their devices. The timing and release date may vary from country to country.

HTC is also committed to release the Android 4.4 Kitkat update in next 90 days. Some of the expected HTC devices which would be getting the latest update includes: HTC One, HTC One Dual SIM, HTC Butterfly S, HTC One Max and HTC One Mini.

Android Community reports that HTC will start rolling out the Android 4.4 Kitkat update starting "from the end of January ".

South Korea's LG is yet to clarify whether the hit G2 maker is ready to roll out the latest Android 4.4 Kitkat update or not. GizBot recently got in touch with a senior executive over at LG India. The executive clearly told that LG would not be able to update company's flagship G2 to the latest Android OS. LG G2 "not immediately "getting the Android 4.4 Kitkat update.

Star domestic player Micromax, who recently comes up with its flagship Canvas Turbo A250, has yet to clarify whether Android 4.4 Kitkat update is slated to be released for its premium devices. Reportedly, Micromax was preparing to release Android 4.4 Kitkat update for the Canvas HD A116.
