Archos Announces Android-Based Entry Level Smartphones and Tablet For MWC 2014

French consumer electronics company Archos recently pulled off the curtains from its latest devices, which it intends to showcase at the most important annual event for the telecom Industry, the Mobile World Congress 2014.

Next week at the event, the company will in fact showcase 4 devices, all of which are based on the Android operating system. They include two smartphones called the 50c Oxygen and 40b Titanium, a phablet which comes dubbed as 64 Xenon and a tablet called the 80 Helium 4G. Lets take a look at the specs of these devices individually.

ARCHOS 50c Oxygen

The smartphone comes with a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) capacitive touch screen IPS display. It comes powered by a 1.7 GHz Octa-Core MediaTek MT6592 processor with Mali 450MP4 GPU coupled with a 1GB RAM, It runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) OS. There is an 8MP rear camera along with a LED Flash and BSI sensor with a 10800p HD video recording capabilty and 2MP front-facing shooter as well. Internal storage is fixed at 8GB but is expandable memory via MicroSD card. Apart from being a Dual SIM smartphone, it features a 3G ( HSPA+ 21Mbps / 5.76Mbps ), WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS support as well. The device which measures 7.64 mm thick and weighs 140 grams is powered by a 2000 mAh battery and woould be priced at 199.99 GBP (approx. Rs. 20,700).

ARCHOS 64 Xenon

This a massive sized smartphone with a 6.4-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) capacitive touch screen IPS display and is powered by a 1.3 GHz Quad-Core MediaTek MT6582 processor with Mali 400MP2 GPU coupled with 1GB or RAM. It runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) OS. This one also comes with the similar camera features which include: 8MP rear camera with LED Flash, BSI sensor and 10800p HD video recording and a 2MP front-facing shooter. Internal storage capacity is rated at 4GB but is expandable via MicroSD card. This one is also a Dual SIM samrtphone with 3G ( HSPA+ 21Mbps / 5.76Mbps ), WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS support. It measures 9.3mm thick and weighs 232 g. The device which is powered by a 2800 mAh battery will cost you 199.99 GBP (approx. Rs. 20,700).

ARCHOS 40b Titanium

The cheapest and the smallest of all the device is this one which features a 4-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen IPS display. It comes powered by a 1.3 GHz Dual-Core MediaTek MT6572 processor with Mali 400 GPU coupled with very less RAM of 512MB. It runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) OS. There is also a low end camera with 5MP sensor at the rear side with LED Flash and VGA front-facing snapper. Internal storage is fixed at 4GB but is expandable via MicroSD card. Connectivity options remain regular with 3G ( HSPA+ 21Mbps / 5.76Mbps ), WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS support. Also add a Dual SIM support. The device which measures 8.5mm thick and weighs 115 g is powered by a 1400 mAh battery and will be priced at 99.99 GBP (approx. Rs. 10,350).

ARCHOS Helium 4G

The 80 ARCHOS Helium 4G tablet comes with an 8-inch capacitive touch screen IPS display offering a resolution of 1024×768 pixels. It is powered by a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 (MSM8926) processor with Adreno 305 GPU coupled with a 1GB RAM. It runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) OS. The imaging department consists of a 5MP rear camera and 2MP front-facing snapper. There is an 8GB internal storage capacity which is expandable via MicroSD. Connectivity options include 4G LTE (up to 150Mbps / 50 Mbps), 3G ( DC-HSPA+ 42Mbps / 11Mbps ), WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. Addiditonally you will also find a Single SIM slot in the device which will be powered by a 3500mAh battery. The device which measures 11.3 mm thick will be priced somewhere around Rs. 24,000.

All the three smartphones come with a Dual SIM support and feature Android Jelly Bean 4.2. All these devices are mid-range products and are mostly suited for Asian markets as dual SIM devices are pretty popular in Asia.
