There were reports that Asus is planning to host an event on October 16 in Taipei to launch their new product Padfone 2. However, it looks like Asus CEO, Jerry Shen on the other hand has some different plans. As recently, the Asus CEO has reportedly showcased the keenly awaited successor of Asus Padfone to Bloomberg TV’s Anant Dwivedi.
Now a high quality video showing CEO explaining the device is available for public viewing over here.
In another development, leaked images of Asus Padfone 2 has also surfaced on the social media site, Twitter. The images were leaked by @evleaks. From the photographs, one can clearly comprehend the design of the new tablet. The smartphone dock behind the tablet is clearly visible. The flap cover which was present in first generation Padfone has been replaced by the smartphone dock. The whole package looks very much like a battery pack.
Reportedly, the Padfone 2 incorporates a larger 4.7inch High Definition display. The display will support a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. The device will be powered by a quad-core processor. It also has a 13 megapixel camera on the rear side. The tablet will not work until the phone is docked into it. This seems like a waste of hardware. Asus had recently launched Padfone into the Indian market. Asus is selling the device at a higher price tag of Rs. 64,999.
The company has received mixed responses from the budget conscious market. The next generation Padfone 2 has been announced days after the release of the first generation Padfone in India. This will make the consumers in India to wait until the new device is available here. However the price of the device will be a crucial factor which will determine its success. Hopefully Asus will reduce the market price of the first generation Padfone and present the new Padfone 2 at an affordable price tag.
