After Xiaomi Mi3 another affordable device which has been selling well in India is the Asus Zenfone 5. The device has gone out of stock two times since its launch in July. However, the third batch of 20,000 units of the Zenfone 5 will go on sale in India via Flipkart today. Asus Zenfone 5 will cost you Rs 10,000 for the 8 GB variant in Black, while the Asus Zenfone 16 GB variant in Black is being offered at Rs 12,999.
SBI credit/debit card holders gets a better benefit on the phone since they can avail 10% cashback as a part of extended Independence Day offer. However, the offer will only be valid only on August 18th.
Asus Zenfone 5: Key Specifications
The Asus Zenfone 5 features a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) capacitive multi touch display with Corning gorilla glass 3 protection. It is powered by a 2 GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2580 processor coupled with a 1GB RAM and runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) with Zen UI, upgradable to Android 4.4 (KitKat) OS. Other specs of the device include: Dual SIM with dual standby (micro SIMs), 8MP rear camera with LED flash, 2MP front-facing camera, 8GB / 16GB internal memory, expandable memory up to 64GB via micro SD, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and a 2110 mAh battery.
According to the online reports, the combined sales of the Zenfone series reached 40,000 in just four days since its launch. Now the company has announced that it is expected to cross 1 lakh soon. However, the device is in close competition with the Xiaomi Mi3 smartphone which is also selling exclusively via Flipkart at Rs. 13,999.
