BenQ Plans For New Phones In India
BenQ is already into the production of certain components for smart phones such as touch screen panels and also has enough experience with the production of other digital devices. According to the company authorities the experience of the company into the production of smart phone components will help in manufacturing mobile phones. The smart phone components are manufactured by AU Optronics which is a sister concern of BenQ. Interestingly BenQ was the 6th largest phone manufacturing company across the globe but some wrong strategic steps taken way back in 2005 made the company lead into a bad direction. The strategic decision was to procure cell phone unit of Siemens.
According to Rajeev Singh who is also the country head of the company; BenQ is planning to enter the market with a 3.7 inches wider screen with lots of specification and features especially for the Indian customers. The company authorities also said that they have realised the huge scope available in the smart phone segment. People are becoming more aware and also ready to accept any product if it is of good quality. The officials also stated that a close evaluation of the trend in Indian market has been analysed. Smartphones might be just an initiative as the company is also planning on tablets in the near future.
As per a recent survey, India is emerging as a rapidly growing market at a rate of 60% per year as far as the smartphone industry is concerned. There is a huge demand for high end smartphones in India and BenQ is looking forward to tap the opportunity. In the present scenario BenQ holds a total of 20% market share in the nation; but it is in the LCD TVs and projectors business. And thus the company is looking forward to diversify its core business and capture higher market share in India. As the scope in smartphone sector is very high, this is the perfect time to come up with some strategies, the top authorities of BenQ concluded.
