Let us take a brief look at the comparison of the two Blackberry"s models namely the Blackberry Bold 9700 and the Blackberry Bold 9900.
The Blackberry Bold 9900 is a successor to the highly successful Bold 9700 and thus outperforms the 9700 in more ways than one. First of all Bold 9900 has a slightly bigger screen and also offers a full blown touch screen feature rather than the semi touch features of the 9700" s display. The camera also gets an upgrade from 3.0 Mega Pixel to 5.0 Mega Pixels with LED flash. So it gives you superb quality pictures. Video recording is made more powerful as it can play videos in 720p HD format.
The audio and video playback software"s have been updated to get rid of the jinx associated with it in the 9700 model. The 9900 now completely supports h264 and h263 modes of video playback. The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules have been strengthened to solve certain connectivity issues that existed in the Bold 9700 model.
The expandable memory through an external Micro SD slot has been boosted and now it can support up to 32 GB of data as compared to the 16 GB of the 9700.
The phone has 3G support like the 9700 but unlike its predecessor it offers upto 14.2Mbps download speed as compared to the 7.2 Mbps. The 9700 provided a battery backup of 6 hours whereas the 9900 has the power to deliver back up somewhere in the range of 6 to 7.5 hours.
Both the phones support java with MIDP 2.1 and thus it allows users to download and install their favourite Java based games and applications. Physically the Blackberry Bold 9900 has a more rounded figure in comparison to the Bold 9700 and features a silver lining on the side.
However the Bold 9900 lacks one key feature that was absent in the 9700 also, the FM radio. Other than that the Bold 9900 pretty much covers all the drawbacks which were reported on the Bold 9700.
But what do we have to shell out in order to get this upgraded phone. Here lies the main drawback of the 9900. While the 9700 retails for around Rs 21000 the 9900 would cost you around Rs 31000 that is almost Rs 10000 more.
Blackberry Bold 9900 has become much bolder in terms of features and performance, but it comes at a higher price.
