Research in motion (RIM) was working on a new software update for BlackBerry Bold 9790. The update was complete and the company was going to launch it soon. But it seems like an unofficial OS is now made available before the official release.
The updated software version is OS 22.214.171.124. A leak for this same software version is now available in net. No one knows how this leak happened but this software is already available in net for BlackBerry Bold 9790 users to download. Since this is an unofficial release, people have to be cautious while updating the device with it.
The process of updating the phones software is a bit long. First of all the OS that is available in the net has to be downloaded in to your PC. If the downloaded update is from a carrier that is not your present one then you will have to delete the software providers XML file before installing the update.
This can be done by accessing program files and Apploader via common files and research in motion folders. Here the XML file will be present and has to be deleted. Your PC must be equipped with BlackBerry desktop manager to do the update. You must at least have desktop manager V4.5 to do the update.
Once you do the update the BlackBerry device will revert back to original custom settings. You will be prompted to enter your username and password after the update to use some of the third party applications. So you should have access to all the wanted information. Once you have all the details close all other applications and run .exe file. Choose the appropriate language and go through the different windows that come after it.
Finally desktop manager software will open. Now plug in your BlackBerry device via USB chord. The phone will now ask you whether you want to install the available updates. Click update there and you will be provided with a list of applications that will be affected. After going through them finish the update and disconnect you BlackBerry mobile.
The software version that has been leaked in the net probably must be a beta version. It is not recommended to use it since it would be filled with bugs and other glitches. It can result in many of your software’s getting crippled or at the worst your BlackBerry mobile becoming useless. So it is advisable to wait till the official software is released.
