BlackBerry Q5 To Officially Launch in India Today

However, unlike the other two BB10 handsets which came in a pretty hefty price, Q5 is likely to range within Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 25,000. Moreover, almost all the feedbacks on the previous BlackBerry Q10 and Z10 were tilted to its extravagant overpricing. Yes, the market speculates that the handset would range around Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 30,000.

At the same time, Q5 which is a stripped down variant of the BlackBerry Q10 obviously has a chance to rebuild the abdicated reputation of the Canadian manufacturer. Although the Q5 features the BB10 platform like the other two BB10 handsets, comparatively it comes with a lesser features. Obviously with lesser price comes lesser capabilities.

The BlackBerry Q5 looks like the Q10 but taking a look at the keypad, the handset comes with an older keyboard that we have seen in the Curve series. While the Q10 has got a better placed keys and classy keypad with lines separating the keys for better efficiency. BlackBerry Q5 however is identical to BlackBerry Q10 in terms of the shape, form and weight

Going by the specs, BlackBerry Q5 sports the latest BB10 platform and shares some features with its sibling, the Q10. BlackBerry Q5 comes with a 3.1-inch LCD capacitive screen and a screen resolution of 720x720 pixels, dual-core 1.2 GHz processor, 8 GB internal storage and expandable memory slot.

Also, BlackBerry Q5 will also come with a 2 GB RAM, 5 MP rear-end camera and a 2 MP front facing camera for video-calling and a 2100 mAh non-removable battery.

What Price is Right Price?

As per report, Blackberry Q5 is expected to hit the markets at a price of around Rs 30,000, however, Indian market being one of the most important platform for mid range handsets, it has the potential to give BlackBerry a better sales through graph. However, according to many analysts, if the Q5 is launched in India at the speculated price tag, it may not see the sales waves as the manufacturer expects.

As the popular Android has already made a deep rooted impact on the Indian consumers thus BlackBerry can't afford to fight that back which such high price perspectives. Moreover, the full touchscreen Android handsets with larger screens are now avaiable in India in sub Rs 20,000 range. Not to mention the quad core handsets that are entering into the mid range section.

Thus, after analyzing the facts regarding the hardships that BlackBerry is against right now, it is high time for the manufacturer to ponder into the price front and make a reasonable comeback in the Indian market.
