Struggling Canadian smartphone maker BlackBerry has been hitting the online world quite often these days. It's not only the company's instant messaging BBM app which has been bringing the sinking company up to the spot-light, but also the leaks pertaining to the company's upcoming affordable smartphone called "Jakarta" which have been making the brand name louder in the industry.
The Jakarta smartphone has surfaced online yet again and this time around even the press render has come along. The specs of the device had already been leaked couple of days ago. In the mean time, looking at the purported image of the BlackBerry Jakarta or Z3 smartphone, it looks like it is meant for people who liked the Z10 and Z30 smartphones but couldn't afford to buy them.
Moreover, the smartphone, according to the latest hearsay, could be priced around $150 (approx. Rs. 10,000) outright, which means that it would be compartively cheaper. The information pertaining to the price of the device is not yet confirmed and it might vary depending on the markets.
It should be noted that the particular device has been designed by Foxconn, while the softwares would be provided by BlackBerry itself. Lets take a look at the rumored specs of the device in a concise way. It could come with a 5 inch screen with a 540 x 960 resolution and could be powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz processor coupled with 1.5GB of RAM.
There could also be a minimum 8GB of native storage on the device and is said to be powered by a 2650mAh battery. Other features could include: a 5MP rear-facing camera with auto-focus, flash and 5X digital zoom along with a 1.1MP front-facing camera featuring fixed focus and 3X digital zoom.
BlackBerry Jakarta, aka Z3 smartphone, is expected to go official later this month at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014 event taking place in Barcelona, Spain. But unfortunately, there is no word on when the affordable BB10 running touchscreen smartphone would hit the market shelves.
