After months of leaks, rumors and speculations, BlackBerry has finally unveiled its latest 5-inch display bearing smartphone, the BlackBerry Z3, in India. The device will now be available for pre-booking from today until July 2.
BlackBerry has a lot riding on the new smartphone. The Canadian smartphone maker hasn't really got its thing going in the Indian market with major names such as Apple and Samsung grabbing most of the attention. But things are expected to change with the Z3 now coming to the front.
As far as the device's specs are concerned, the BlackBerry Z3 offers a 5-inch display with 960x540 pixel resolution. The device is powered via a dual-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 mobile processor, which is paired 1.5GB of RAM.
The Z3 has 8 GB of on-board storage and an additional memory card slot to add up to 32 GB micro SD card. At the rear, it has a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash and auto focus. The device, as expected, runs on BlackBerry's 10.2.1 operating system. Apart from that, the device features a 2500 mAh battery and single micro-SIM card slot.
But while all that sounds quite brilliant, does the device stand a chance against the major players already operating in the market. For starters, we take a look at the top 5 areas where it compares against the massively popular Moto G handset from Motorola.
The biggest comparison that can be drawn here is the power of Android over the new and improved BlackBerry OS. The Moto G, obviously, has a thing going for it with its Android KitKat offering. But compared to that, the BB10.2.1 comes with features and improvements of its own that might leverage the device in the market.
Screen sizes matter a lot these days with different handsets sporting host of different sizes. We are in a age where a smallness or a largeness of a smartphone is closely associated with its price tag. So in this case, while the Motorola Moto G offers a 4.5-inch display, the Z3 goes a step forward by offering a 5-inch display.
This is one area where not only the Z3, but a number of smartphones have gained ground over the Moto G. As you may have known by now, the Moto G doesn't offer an external SD card slot. However, the Z3 does.
While the Moto G looks to get the job done by offering a 2070mAh battery, the BlackBerry Z3 offers an even more powerful 2500mAh battery to let you carry one for the entire day, and thensome.
The Motorola Moto G and the BlackBerry Z3 will soon be going head to head in the race to the top of the mid range plie soon. Motorola has already made quite the name for itself with the Moto G and Moto E offerings of its, but BlackBerry will definitely look to steal some of that thunder with the new Z3. Only time will tell who takes the first step on the ladder to the top.
