Blackberry launched its Z30 flagship smartphone at an event in Delhi today. It will retail for a price of Rs.39.990 starting early next week. The handset was launched in international markets last month and has finally reached Indian shores. Online retailer Saholic has already listed the handset as "coming soon".
The company also announced that version 10.2 of its BB10 OS will start rolling out to Blackberry Q5 and Z10 devices in India from coming Saturday. The updated version of the OS will also be available for Blackberry Q10 devices next week.
The Blackberry Z30 will come pre-loaded with BB 10.2 OS and will use a 5-inch Super AMOLED display with a 720 x 1280 pixels resolution. For imaging, it will sport an 8 megapixel rear camera and 2 MP front camera. It will be powered by a 1.7 GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro processor along with 2GB of RAM. It has a 2880 mAh capacity removable battery. The phone comes with 16GB of internal memory and there's a microSD slot that will allow expansion up to 64GB.
A flip cover accessory for the new handset will also be available for purchase.
A few weeks ago, BlackBerry revealed that it had agreed to a 4.7 billion dollar sale to a consortium led by Fairfax Financial. Subject to a six-week period of due diligence, the deal is expected to be completed by November 4.
The upcoming Blakcberry Z30 will have to fight off competition from Apple's iPhone 5S, which will be available to Indian consumers starting November 1st.
