Byond B51 and B54: Dual SIM Android Smartphones Launched at Rs 4,999 and Rs 5,799
Pune based tech manufacturer Byond, who recently unveiled B63, a dual SIM smartphone has now added two more handsets to its portfolio. Byond has launched B51 and B54, two new dual SIM smartphones based on Android Gingerbread operating system at Rs 4,999 and Rs 5,799 respectively.
Based on Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, both the handsets have almost similar features except for the difference in their display sizes as B51 packs a 3.5 inch HVGA display and B54 boasts a 4 inch WVGA display. Moreover, B51 support regional languages, while B54 comes with multi-language support.
Specifications
Display: Byond B51 houses a 3.5 inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen display with 320 x 480 pixel resolution and Byond B54 comes with a larger 4 inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels.
Processor: Both the handsets comes equipped with a 1GHz processor under their hood.
Operating System: Byond has incorporated the handsets with Android 2.3,6 Gingerbread operating system, which is quite outdated.
Camera: In terms of camera, both the handsets have a 3MP rear camera and a 1.3MP front camera for video calling.
Storage: While both the handsets have 256MB RAM and a micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, Byond 54 comes with 4GB internal storage with pre-installed applications.
Connectivity: The dual SIM handsets are packed with connectivity features including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Battery: Both the handsets are loaded with a 1,500 mAh battery of undisclosed backup.
Price & Availability
When it comes to pricing, Byond has taken care in pricing B51 and B54 reasonably at Rs 4,999 and Rs 5,899 respectively, thereby making them attractive offerings at budget price points.
Why Gingerbread Smartphones?
While it can be said that the company might have used the platform to keep the costs low, it is to be noted that the budget smartphone market is heading towards Android 4.0 ICS and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating systems. However, Gingerbread platform supports almost all the applications available on Google Play.
