Motorola is the multinational telecommunications company which is based in America. They have a wide range of products including set top boxes, video recorders and mobile phones. During the years they have become a pioneer in mobile phone technology. The two very successful models from the Motorola group are Motorola Spice and Motorola Fire.

Both the mobiles come in touch QWERTY form factor. Motorola fire has dimensions of 116.5 x 58 x 13.45 mm and weighs in at about 110 grams while the Motorola Spice has dimensions of 97 x 61 x 16.8 mm and weighs 145 grams so it’s a bit in the heavier side when compared. The former is powered by a 1420 mAh battery which gives it 7 and 5 hours talk time in 2G and 3G respectively and a standby time of 21 days and 20 days on the same. Latter is powered by 1170mAh Li-ion battery which gives it 180 hours of standby time and 320 minutes of talk time.

The display in Motorola fire is 2.8 inch TFT type and has 240 x 320 pixel resolutions. It gives about 2,62,000 colors Motorola Spice too has a TFT 240 x 320 pixel display but varies a bit in size, it is of 3.0 inches. Both the devices feature fixed focus 3 Mega pixel cameras without flash and offers digital zoom feature. Motorola Spice has up to 8x zoom capability. The cameras can capture video too and Fire has a video capture rate of about 24 frames per second in the mean time Spice has a video capture rate in between 21 and 25 fps.

Motorola Spice and Motorola Fire run on android platforms but have different versions in them. Motorola Spice runs on android version 2.1Éclair and Motorola Fire runs on android version 2.3 Gingerbread. They support multiple networks including GSM, CDMA and HSDPA .Both the phones are Wi-Fi enabled and has high speed USB2.0 support. Motorola Fire has Bluetooth version 2.1 and Spice has version 2.0.The connector type is micro USB in both.

Motorola spice has an inbuilt memory of about 90 MB and both the devices support external memory cards of unto 32GB and microSD type. Both the device feature accelerometer and proximity sensors but the Motorola fire has an additional ambient light sensor to it.

The devices are heavily loaded with features .Customizable ring tones and wallpapers are common in both of them and they come with a large number of preloaded wallpapers and ring tones. It can also be downloaded from net too. The music players in both the devices can play almost all the common music formats and offers some very good clarity music. An FM radio is present in both of them. They both can play videos as well. Headphones can be connected to the devices via 3.5 mm audio jack provided in it.

Motorola spice price in India is not yet announced but a reasonable price can be expected for the device considering it features. Motorola Fire is priced at close to Rs. 10,000 in India. Spice price is also expected in the same range.
