DataWind PocketSurfer 5X, 5 and 3G5 Launched: 5 Inch Smartphones Price Starts at Rs 3,999
The maker of Aakash and UbiSlate tablets, DataWind has once again hit the Indian market with their latest smartphones. These handsets come in Android flavor and are quite leniently priced.
These devices that come dubbed as PocketSurfer 5X, PocketSurfer 5 and PocketSurfer 3G5 is currently available on the company's official website at Rs. Rs. 3,999, 4,999 and Rs. 6,499 respectively. The PocketSurfer 5X comes in White, Black and Blue colors. The PocketSurfer 5 comes in White and Black colors. The PocketSurfer 3G5 comes only in Black.

Trying to play safe, the company has adopted the large 5 inch display (capacitive touch screen display which offers a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels) and Dual SIM support on all these smartphones.

Going by the specs, the PocketSurfer 5X has a 5-inch WQVGA display, powered by a single-core 1GHz Cortex A8 processor and runs on Linux OS. The PocketSurfer 5 is powered by a single-core 1 GHz Cortex A9 processor and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The 3G5 is powered by a dual-core 1.2 GHz Cortex A7 processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean).
All these smartphones have a micro SD card support. The PocketSurfer 5x and 5 have 2G (EDGE) support and the 3G5 comes with 3G connectivity as well. All three handsets come with other connectivity features like WiFi, Bluetooth and USB.
The PocketSurfer 5X comes with a front facing VGA shooter, the PocketSurfer 5 uses Front facing VGA and a 2MP Rear camera while the PocketSurfer 3G5 is loaded with a front facing VGA camera and a 5MP rear facing camera.
There are no details about the battery and the RAM of the devices as of now. However, these devices are quite efficient for those who are in need of a budget friendly large display featuring handsets.
