Dell Venue Pro Smartphone gets Mango O.S. update
Software updates are big news for not only laptop and desktop PC owners but also mobile handset users, if the handset is what’s called a smartphone. Smartphones have revolutionized communication and made work, entertainment and staying in touch a lot more portable.
Dell’s Venue Pro smartphone has also had its Windows Phone Mango OS updated to WP 7.5 version. This is the last Windows Phone to be updated for use by consumers. The ecosystem of Windows Phone is known to be controlled quite tightly, with all the standardized hardware making base platform customization non-existent. This is why Windows Phone is able to launch updates in a more widespread and easier manner. This iron-grip control Windows Phone exercises over its OS indicates that, hardware breakthroughs such as dual-core CPUs and displays higher than WVGA resolution will take their own sweet time to make their way to Windows Phone-powered smartphones. A smoothly optimized software, though, won’t make the absence of these features felt, for now.
Dell had launched Venue Pro in India for the hefty price tag of Rs. 30,000 in India. Venue Pro is the Windows Phone version of Dell’s Android-running Venue. It is powered by a Qualcomm (Scorpion Core) 1GHz Snapdragon CPU and the Adreno 200 graphics processor.
The slider form factor of Dell Venue Pro is really attractive. On sliding upwards you can see the QWERTY keyboard beneath, but in a vertical arrangement. With 720p HD video recording, a 5-megapixel LED flash and autofocus equipped camera, 8GB storage onboard and 512MB RAM this is a great phone for business and socializing purposes, though it isn’t equipped with a memory card slot unlike the Android Venue. Its display is a 4.1-inch AMOLED touchscreen with is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass that makes it more durable. Except for the Windows Phone Mango OS, Dell Venue Pro is pretty similar to Dell Venue.
With a Windows Phone Mango OS users can sync, edit, view and share MS Office documents. Photos can be easily shared and added to social networking platforms such as a Facebook, Windows Live and Flickr. With the PC client users can access the App store. There are apps on offer for sports, news, travel, music, productivity and games. In fact, there are quite a good number of games available which can be tried before they are bought. Multiplayer options, Xbox LIVE and other gaming features make the Dell Venue Pro a really interesting phone – ideal for business executives, gamers, and entertainment lovers.
