Nokia has always been recognized worldwide for providing world class phones that are bound to be reliable, efficient and powerful. But they are also known for the fact that they often complicate things when it comes to launching similarly feature laden phones. They usually make it difficult for anyone to pick a clear winner out of the lot.
The customers are faced with one such dilemma regarding two of the latest offerings from Nokia. Which is the smarter choice? What is the difference of N8 and E7?
Both the N8 and E7 models are similar in many ways yet different too. It sounds confusing right! It is for sure. A close look at the Spec chart reveals the truth. First let us take a look at the similarities.
The difference of N8 and E7 are powered by Symbian 3 Operating Platforms and have the same kind of user interface for the home screen, messaging, image and video viewing and editing. They have packed in the same sort of Social networking functions and provisions for Nokia Ovi Store and Ovi maps.
Not only are there are difference of N8 and E7 , they have similarities too, as these Smartphone models from Nokia have a threaded SMS viewing. Both have HDMI support and USB on the go. They both have the same underlying processor and RAM capabilities and features Digital Dolby music support. The colour options are pretty much the same too.
So are there any differences of N8 and E7? Yes there is.
E7 had to undergo several compromises in features as compared to the N8 just because it has a sliding QWERTY 4 row keyboard and a larger 4" AMOLED screen. The most important of these compromise is having to let go off the 12 Mega Pixel Carl Zeiss branded Camera with a non branded 8 Mega Pixel one. The Camera was the USP of the N8. And because of this the E7"s camera does not have Autofocus, Xenon Flash or Ambient audio recording capability. It also lacks an FM transmitter and Micro SD expansion Slot.
But the E7 does come in handy at times because it has some new features. These include the enterprise oriented software packages like Quick Office Premium, Microsoft Communicator, Vingo, Word Traveller and F-Secure Anti-Theft Software.
The most significant difference of N8 and E7, however is the steep price gap between the two. The N8 is priced under Rs.21,000 while the E7 will cost you more than Rs.30,000. Thus the N8 has actually outdone the E7 because it offers much more at lower price band. So buy the E7 only if you want a Physical keyboard rather than a touch screen and only if you are willing to compromise on the excellent camera features of the N8.
