Domestic smartphone vendor Karbonn Mobiles, who has been focusing on low to mid-range Android handsets for quite some time, is now targeting premium smartphone market with big-ticket phones planned for early next year. And, to start with Karbonn has just launched the Titanium X, a 5-inch FHD smartphone with quad-core processor and NFC, at a price point of Rs.18,490.
The Titanium S7 maker plans to launch two high-end handsets in early 2014, according to sources familiar with the matter. On the sidelines of India Telecom 2013 organized by the Department of Telecom, Government of India and FICCI, GizBot managed to get exclusive information around the respective smartphone launch plans of aggressive smartphone vendor.
In an exclusive chat with Ashish Aggarwal, Director, Karbonn Mobiles, GizBot was informed that the company will launch a 5-inch Full HD smartphone with built-in 16-megapixel image sensor, around February end or early March next year.
The senior executive pointed that Karbonn Mobiles will follow latest and emerging trends to broaden its portfolio. When asked to divulge details related to the internal hardware and approximate retail price, the high-profile executive remained silent to our questions.
Besides coming up with a 16MP camera phone next year, GizBot got one more tantalizing information that could literally change the image of Karbonn globally. While other domestic tech vendors continue to churn handsets coupled with MediaTek chipset; Karbonn may come with a high-end handset featuring Snapdragon 800 SoC.

We have absolutely no clue as when and on which date Karbonn plans to unleash its first smartphone with a quad-core processor powered by Snapdragon 800 chipset. But the company official has confirmed that Karbonn is working on such a device and its coming soon. At this point of time, it would be tough to anticipate the launch date and other information around the upcoming handset.
Smartphone players including Micromax and Karbonn are making every possible move to hit international tech vendors. Karbonn initially started selling affordable feature phones at tad low price in the beginning and now they local vendor is touching skies.
According to the latest IDC report, Karbonn Mobiles registered an 11.2 % market share in Q3 2013.
With two upcoming-handsets to be announced early next year, and the introduction of the Titanium X and Titanium S7, it seems that Karbonn would manage to increase its smartphone market share in India. Further, Karbonn will continue to announce affordable low-cost Android handsets to maintain steady growth.
