LG Electronics, one of the display leaders in the industry has been focusing on India as a key market for a long time, however now it looks like the South Korean tech firm is placing its strategies right.

 

Recently, LG launched the much awaited Optimus G Pro in the Indian market. The 5.5 inch display phone has been announced to hold a price tag of Rs 42,500 boasting commendable specifications and high end UX features.

At the launch event, GizBot got a chance to interact with Steve Koh, Head - Mobile Communications at LG India. The high-profile executive exclusively told GizBot that LG is planning to launch a new budget Android smartphone under budget LG Optimus L Series 1, which might come with a name of LG Optimus L1.

It will be an entry level phone and would hit the shelves carrying a price tag of around Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000. The official also added, that the younger sibling to LG Optimus L3, L5 and L7 will go on sale in India in August 2013.

In terms of specifications, the LG Optimus L1 phone will have a 3-inch IPS display along with single core 1GHz processor. The phone will come packed with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box, and may be a dual SIM variant of the phone might also hit the shelves following the former launch.

GizBot would like to mention over here that the first report on this handset was outed by TechNytt, a Swedish blog. The report informed that the handset dubbed as LG Optimus E410 L1 has been spotted on various online stores in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. Further, the report also mentioned that the phone will be out in two variants including black and white. "According to the Danish shop Fcomputer expected product reach store August," said the report.

With LG coming up with a smartphone under Rs. 6000, it has to be seen how market Android dominators react to it. The Finnish giant Nokia has started to position itself as another alternative brand with its Asha 501.

The handset is based on S40 platform and has smartphone like features. Nokia is selling the phone at Rs. 5,199. On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy Star is the cheapest Android phone from the South Korean giant.

Priced at Rs. 5,240, the phone manufactured by Samsung has a 2.9-inch QVGA display, 1GHz single core processor, a 2-mega pixel camera on the rear, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of ROM (expandable), Wi-Fi, Dual SIM and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean supported.
