|

Sony originally launched the Xperia Z1 Compact at this year's CES 2014. Now the Japanese mobile phone maker is releasing the new smartphone in global potential markets, and fortunately India is one among them. Sources close to GizBot have revealed that Sony is planning to launch the Xperia Z1 Compact in India in mid- February next month.

The company hasn't finalized the retail price; so it would be tough to comment on the pricing. However, analyzing the past launches, GizBot expects the smartphone to be priced around Rs. 35,000 in the Indian market.

Also, the flagship Xperia Z1 is priced at Rs. 40,000 and based on the market speculation, the Xperia Z1 Compact should be priced under Rs. 36,000.

While, Sony Xperia Z1 Compact is a mini version of popular flagship, the Xperia Z1, Sony has made no major changes when it comes to internal hardware. The only difference you will find between the two devices is the size, and a smaller display.

The year 2013 could be recognized as Sony's year by all means. The company delivered five back-to-back hits in the form of Xperia Z, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1, Xperia E and lastly mid-range Xperia C. So yes, Sony is back into the game, and aims to be a dominant player in the smartphone market.

Meanwhile, Sony has to face tough competition from established players like Apple and Samsung in the International market, and also, at the same time domestic vendors from India and China are becoming a big threat.
