Exclusive: Sony Xperia Z2 Coming to India at Rs 49,990 Bundled With SmartBand And Case

Sony has been making solid efforts to keep users in the loop when it comes to updating new hardware. The firms latest high-end phone - the Xperia Z1 Compact - managed to impress critics and consumers alike.

 

Now the company is all set to launch its latest flagship phone, the Xperia Z2 in India on May 8, 2014, as hinted by the media invite.

Exclusive: Sony Xperia Z2 Coming to India at Rs 49,990

However, a high-profile source of GizBot, who wishes to remain anonymous, has revealed that the Japanese smartphone maker will bundle its ‘SmartBand', a fitness-tracking wearable with Xperia Z2. The Sony SmartBand SWR10 wristband will be bundled with the manufacturer's latest phablet offering without any extra cost.

The source also disclosed that the intelligent wristband will be offered anywhere between Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 7,000, when it goes on sale in India by second week of May.

At the same time, The Mobile Store, India's leading mobile store started taking preorders for the Sony Xperia Z2 since last night. While the device won't reach the shelves until May 15, customers craving to get a hold of Sony's follow-up to last year's, can pre order themselves a unit on The Mobile Store's website.

The Android 4.4 Kitkat powered handset was displayed by the online site to be priced at Rs. 49,990 (as shown in the screenshot above, however now the site has taken down the price and its say 'Price not available'). Further, if you purchase the Xperia Z2 from The Mobile Store, you'll be eligible to get a free cover and the health band free with the device.

GizBot has spoken with multiple sources and confirmed much of the secrets Sony has been hiding till now. We have also got a confirmation that officially Sony Xperia Z2 will be priced at Rs. 52,000 in India, while retailers will begin delivering the phone anywhere between May 15- 18.

To confirm on the same, just now, Twitter leakster @LeaksterInc has also tweeted about the smartphone coming to the market at a price of Rs 49,990 and it will be available in the market by May 15th. Have a look at the tweet below

Sony Xperia Z2- Highlighted Specs

Sony's Xperia Z2 features a slew of improvements compared to its predecessor. The device comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD display with a higher screen resolution of 1080p. Packing a 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of on-board memory, which can be further expanded via a microSD card slot.

The phone houses a 3200 mAh battery and dual cameras, with 20-megapixel rear- and 2-megapixel front-facing shooters. Moreover, the handset's rear-facing camera will be able to record videos in 4K format.

The waterproof and dust resistant phone runs Android 4.4.2 Kitkat out-of-the box.
