In an attempt to reply its fellow handset maker Xiaomi, Lenovo has launched the latest Vibe K5 Plus smartphone in the Indian market today at an event in New Delhi. Initially, the Vibe K5 Plus was announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 last month in Barcelona.
On the specifications, the Vibe K5 Plus sports a 5-inch Full HD IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It is powered by a Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor with Adreno 405 as GPU. Talking about the storage, this device comes with 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM with expandable option of up to 128GB via microSD card slot.
The Vibe K5 Plus is shipped with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. This dual SIM device supports 13MP rear camera with LED Flash, OmniVision OV13850 sensor, f/2.2 aperture, 5P lenses, 1080p video recording and on the front, it has 5MP camera with f/2.8 aperture.
Further, the connectivity option includes 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio, dual speakers, Dolby Atmos. The Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus is juiced with 2750mAh removable battery.
Today, we are going to compare two smartphones that fall on same line interms of specs, price and others. Yes! It is none other than the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, which was launched few days back in the Indian market at starting price of Rs. 9,999.
Both Redmi Note 3 and Vibe K5 Plus comes with minimal design
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes with a unibody design with premium look and feel. This device weights at 164 grams, along with the smooth matte finish at the back. On the front, we also have a upstanding glossy rim which goes around the corner, only to protect the display when it is kept upside down. One disadvantage here is the lack of Corning Gorilla Glass!
On the other hand, the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus comes with Aluminum casing on the back and scratch resistant display on the front. When compared to Redmi Note 3, the Vibe K5 Plus is a bit lighter at 142grams and measures 7.9mm of thickness.
Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus comes with 441 ppi over Redmi Note 3's 403 ppi
The Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus comes with 5-inch Full HD IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels with a resolution of 441ppi.
On the other hand, the Redmi Note 3 sports a 5.5-inch full-HD IPS display translating into 403 ppi. However, Redmi Note 3 comes with Sunlight display, which automatically increases the contrast under harsh light. With few added features, Redmi Note 3 leads in this department.
Redmi Note 3 offers more choice!
The Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus comes with 1.7Ghz 64-bit Snapdragon 616 Octa-core processor with Adreno 405 under the board besides 2GB RAM under the hood. On the other hand, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is the first smartphone to come equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 Hexa-Core SoC under the hood.
On the storage front, the Redmi Note 3 comes in 2 variants - - 2GB RAM with 16GB inbuilt memory and 3GB RAM with 32GB inbuilt memory. However, both the variant comes with expandable memory option via microSD card slot. Meanwhile Lenovo also comes with 16GB ROM with expandable option of up to 128GB via microSD card slot. In this department, Xiaomi offers two choices to the consumers on Redmi Note 3.
Redmi Note 3 comes with 16MP, while Vibe K5 Plus flaunts 13MP
The Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus comes with 13MP rear camera with LED Flash, Omnivision OV13850 sensor, f/2.2 aperture, 5P lenses, 1080p video recording and on the front, it has 5MP camera with f/2.8 aperture. As of now we cannot comment on the camera performance, while on the other side the Redmi Note 3 clicks decent picture on the daylight.
On the low lighting conditions, the Redmi Note 3 produces so much of noise. Reiterating the specs, the Redmi Note 3 flaunts a a 16MP rear camera with wide f/2.0 aperture and dual tone flash. This device is capable of shooting 1080p videos and slow motion videos. On the front, this device comes with 5MP camera with wide aperture for selfies.
Redmi Note 3 has pretty huge battery
On this front, The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes with the non-removable 4050mAh battery, which allows the users to use the device up to 12 hours of video playback. Additionally, the device also supports Qualcomm's Quick Charge feature, which manages to charge quickly.
The Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus comes with 2750mAh removable battery, which doesn't have quick charging technology. Here, the Redmi Note 3 is far ahead than its rivals.
Talking about the software, both the device is shipped with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box with their respective UI on top.
Verdict
It's too early to judge the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus smartphone, as it got launched today. It has its own pros and cons just like Redmi Note 3. However, comparing both the smartphones with specs and price, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 offers more choice than the Vibe K5 Plus interms of inbuilt storage, RAM and ofcourse the fingerprint sensor.
