Rumours have been flowing in thick since the last couple of weeks about the launch of Xiaomi's upcoming flagships. Putting end to all the rumours and speculations, finally, the Apple of China has launched the Xiaomi Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus at an event in China.
In line with the rumours, Xiaomi's Mi 5s Plus features a 13 MP dual camera setup at the back. For the most part, it features a similar design language as seen on its predecessor but brings a few subtle changes, both visually and functionally. Here's a list of such changes and how they are different from each other.
Hello, antenna lines!
The first change you'll see as soon as you hold the device is the inclusion of antenna bands. The Mi 5s, like most of the flagships, feature antenna bands at the rear portion of the device. However, its bigger sibling, the Mi 5s Plus has no antenna lines on its body.
Dual camera setup
Okay, we know you've been waiting to read about this. The Xiaomi Mi 5s features a 16 MP Sony IMX 378 sensor at the back along with phase-detection autofocus, OIS, dual tone LED flash, and support for 4K video ecording.
Whereas, the bigger Mi 5s Plus sports a dual 13 MP cameras at the back coupled with phase-detection autofocus, OIS, dual-tone LED flash, and support for 4K video recording. It's worth mentioning that the camera is powered by Qualcomm's ‘Clear Sight' technology.
Similar to the one on Huawei P9, this setup will use a colour sensor and a monochrome sensor for producing better results.
Ultrasonic Fingerprint Sensor
Apart from the dual camera setup at the back, one of the most anticipated features on the Mi 5s is the presence of ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. The all new fingerprint sensor on the handset is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon Sense ID technology.
On the other hand, the Mi 5s Plus features a standard fingerprint sensor located at the back.
Bigger display on the Mi 5s Plus
The Mi 5s retains the 5.15-inch display as seen on the Mi 5. However, the Mi 5s Plus features a bigger 5.7-inch display. Both these smartphones come with a Full HD resolution display (1080x1920 pixels), which means more pixels density on the Mi 5s.
Two storage variants
The Mi 5s is available in two variants - 3GB of RAM + 64GB of storage space and 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space.
On the other hand, its bigger sibling is available in 4GB of RAM 64GB of storage space and 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space.
Mi 5s Plus has a bigger battery
While the Mi 5s plus packs a 3,000mAh non-removable battery, its elder brother is equipped with a bigger 3,800mAh battery. Both of them offer support for Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0.
