As we have stepped into the third quarter of the year, we are getting to hear a lot of rumors regarding the upcoming smartphones. Especially, the Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are appearing in leaks almost every other day.
Lately, we have seen a slew of @OnLeaks shared that the iPhone 7 might arrive with a 1,960 mAh battery. Though this is not confirmed by Apple, we can trust the information as it comes from the reliable source.

Also, we saw the Apple EarPods leak on Weibo sporting a Lightning connector. Maybe, Apple has decided to remove the 3.5 mm audio as in the case of Moto Z and Moto Z Force. The EarPods show the Lightning connector at the bottom and the volume remote control as well on the wire.

Take a look at the rumor roundup over here to know more about these smartphones that might be unveiled in less than two months.
Design of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus
Though we have no clear evidence on how the upcoming iPhones might look and the Apple fans crib that the maker is not introducing a lot of design changes. But, this time we can expect enough tweaks to be made to the iPhones. The leaks have shown that the most annoying design element, the antenna lines have been moved to the top and bottom edges from the back. The iPhone 7 Plus seems to sport a dual-camera setup at the top left corner and it might have a Smart Connector.
No More Mute Switch
Going by one of the leaks of the alleged iPhone 7 Plus, it appears like the mute switch that will let the users toggle between vibration and normal mode that was a part of the iPhones since the first iteration mode might be missing in the upcoming models. The leaked photo of the device shows everything other such as LED flash, dual-camera setup, redesigned antenna lines, physical home button, smart connector pins, and volume button other than the mute switch.
New Color Options
The iPhone 6 debuted in Silver, Gold, and Space Gray color variants. Later, with the iPhone 6s, Apple came up with the new Rose Gold option. Now, this time, with the iPhone 7, the maker is speculated to introduce a new Space Black color option. It is rumored to be a relatively darker shade than the Space Gray color. We even saw a slew of renders of the Space Black variant of the iPhone 7 leak online.
Home Button with Force Touch
There are rumors that Apple will ditch the physical home button and that the fingerprint scanner will be incorporated in the upcoming iPhone models. But, the home button is here to stay on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Apple is rumored to use a non-moving button along with the Force Touch feature as in the MacBook's touch pad. The home button can be customized to provide a haptic feedback as well in order to stimulate a click.
3.5 mm Headphone Jack to be Ditched
As we saw above, the EarPods of the iPhone 7 leaked online with a Lightning connector at the bottom. It shows that the device will get rid of the 3.5 mm audio jack that is the latest trend followed by the Android device makers. The same is confirmed as the leaked design schematics of the iPhone shells reveal that the audio jack is gone for good. Furthermore, there are rumors that the company is working on the wireless headphones for the upcoming iPhone models.
Hardware is also Rumored
The upcoming iPhones are believed to be powered by the next generation Apple A10 processor. While the A9 processor was made by TSMC and Samsung, the rumors suggest that the A10 processor will be made solely by TSMC. Talking of the RAM capacity, there are rumors that the iPhone 7 will use 2 GB of RAM and the iPhone 7 Plus will arrive with 3 GB of RAM.
16 GB Storage Variant to Go Away
So long, the base variant of the iPhone models had 16 GB of internal storage of which just 12 GB is user accessible. With the increase in the graphics intense games, 4K videos, and 64-bit apps, the 16 GB storage is way too less. So, Apple is likely to get rid of the 16 GB base variant and make 32 GB as the all new storage standard. Maybe, the iPhone 7 can range up to 256 GB of internal storage capacity.
Dual-Camera Setup
The iPhone 7 is expected to arrive with a slightly upgraded camera with a larger pixel sensor and a larger aperture as well to facilitate better low-light photography. The iPhone 7 Plus is said to arrive with a dual-camera setup at its back. Notably, Apple acquired LinX that specializes in dual-lens technology.
Water-resistant Build
The current iPhone models - iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus unofficially sport water-resistant abilities, the upcoming ones are likely to come with official water-resistance.
Smart Connector at the Bottom
The iPhone 7 Plus has leaked featuring a Smart Connector at the bottom. If this turns out to be true, the bigger model might let users connect a Smart Keyboard to it in order to make it easier to type.
