Asus is all set to take the wraps off its new generation model in the Zenfone series on an event scheduled to be held on May 30 in Taipei. The upcoming Zenfone 3 has already been teased by Asus and spotted in leaked reports, which have given us a good idea about its specifications and features. Now, new teaser is out, hinting towards three new Zenfone 3 models possibly making it to the launch pad on the May 30.

This is not the first time that Zenfone 3 has been reported to come in three variant, as previous reports also suggested three models in the making. While the launch event is still a few days away, we take a look at the rumored specifications and features of the upcoming Asus Zenfone flagship:

A new design, three display sizes:

According to ASUSClub, the Asus Zenfone 3 smartphones will flaunt metal, unibody design with slim profile. Rumors have suggested three variants of the Zenfone 3, though this new report hints towards 4 possible variants including a 4.5-inch variant, a 5-inch one, a 5.5-inch version, and a 5.9-inch model that is believed to be launched as the Zenfone 3 Max. As per a recent GFXBench listing, the 5.9 inch display model is likely to come with an HD screen resolution of 1280x720 pixels and the 5.5 inch to have a 1080p display.

It is also suggested that the phones will feature a slightly different design and be placed in different price range.

Qualcomm and MediaTek processor replace Intel's:

Asus Zenfone 2 was powered by Intem Atom chipset however, reports suggest that the company has ditched the CPU brand this time. It is highly expected that the Asus has replaced Intel processor with Qualcomm Snapdragon and MediaTek chipset for the Zenfone 3 series smartphones. Though, its invite mentions Intel, and we expect an Intel Chipset run smartphone version.

Recently, new variants of the ZenFone 3 models were spotted on GFXBench benchmarking site, with a handset codenamed Z010DD listed to equip an octa-core Snapdragon 615 SoC, and another model with codename Z012D with hexa-core Snapdragon 650 SoC. Though, we still wait for the launch event to get the exact specification details on the hardware.

Camera details:

According to rumors and conjectures, one of the Zenfone 3 models is touted to have a 23MP rear camera paired with an 8MP front-facing snapper, while another report suggested a combination of 12MP and 5MP camera set up. The latest report suggest that the rear camera on the Zenfone 3 Max will be placed at the top left of the back panel, whereas other models may have the camera set up on the top center.

Fingerprint sensor on-board:

The top models of the ZenFone 3 series are speculated to come with fingerprint scanner. If this happens, it will be a value addition considering most smartphones now feature fingerprint reader and this is something that the earlier ZenFone models did not feature.

Marshmallow on top:

All the Zenfone 3 series smartphones are expected to come with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow wrapped under Asus' native ZenUI 3.

USB Type C:

Speaking of connectivity features, the Zenfone 3 smartphones are speculated to have USB Type-C reversible port for offering better connectivity options to users. However, considering that there will be several models of the phone, we are not sure if this feature will be available in all models.

A rainbow with new Colours!

If the new report comes true, then the Zenfone 3 will be available in seven color options including rose gold, gold, silver, black, white and more.
