Recently, a report from Press Trust of India (PTI) revealed that Micromax, the home-grown company, will launch four new 4G enabled handsets in India aiming to cash in the increasing demand for LTE phones.
Furthermore, these four upcoming smartphones will be priced under USD 100, which roughly translates to around Rs. 6,650 and will come pre-loaded with Google's Duo, a video calling app.
Micromax co-founder Vikas Jain told, "video calling is perceived to be a very urban phenomenon and niche but at Micromax, we believe that there is a huge potential to massif the service by taking it beyond the tier 1 markets where Micromax has an unmatched edge."
Currently, there are no concrete details available about these upcoming smartphones from Micromax. However, we've managed to get a preview of the retail box of one of the four smartphones from an anonymous source. Here's what to expect.
These four handsets are expected to come pre-loaded with Google's Duo, a video calling app which was launched on September 19. It's worth mentioning the fact that these devices will be first smartphones to come pre-installed with Duo app.
4G enabled out-of-the-box
There are no other details available about the device but, we should expect them to come with 1GB of RAM and entry-level chipset.
5-inch display and a plastic body
Although our source didn't mention anything about the screen size or the design, from what appears on the box, we are assuming that they'll feature a plastic body and a 5-inch display, if not 5.5-inch.
