Huawei, at an event in New Delhi showed off its latest offering under the Honor series, the Honor 8. Alongside the Honor 8, the company has also launched the Honor 8 Smart and Holly 3 smartphones for the Indian market.
The Honor 8 bears a price tag of Rs. 29,999, whereas the Honor 8 Smart and Holly 3 come with a price tag of Rs. 19,999 and Rs. 9,999 respectively.
Huawei forayed into the India market in 2014 with its sub-brand Honor and is celebrating its 2nd anniversary with the launch of its flagship smartphone, the Honor 8. Since its inception in the country, it has launched several smartphones but, with the Honor 7 (launched last year) it upped its game by one level.
Now, a year later, the company has launched the successor of Honor 7 and it appears as if the Honor 8 could be a flagship killer (at least in terms of specifications).
Here's everything you need to know about Huawei's latest offering.
Dual Camera setup is not a flagship-affair anymore
Huawei's previous offering, the P9 came with a dual camera setup at the rear (with a Leica sensor) but was priced around Rs. 40,000. The Honor 8, on the other hand, also has the dual-camera setup (two 12 MP cameras side by side) at the back (no Leica lens this time), but is priced around Rs. 10,000 less which places the smartphone in the upper mid-range segment to compete against the likes of OnePlus 3 and Xiaomi Mi 5.
Akin to the P9, one of the sensor records the colour details, while the other sensor captures images in monochrome to produce better output by merging the two images.
Crisp Full HD display with Eye care technology
The Honor 8 sports a 5.2-inch Full HD LTPS LCD display with a pixel density of 423ppi. It has a bright display, has good viewing angles, and offers vivid color reproduction (Read our first impressions on the Honor 8 to know more).
In addition, it also allows you to tweak the colour temperature as required. On top of all of it, it has an eye care mode which protects your eyes from the bright display.
The Honor 8 is equipped the company's own octa-core Kirin 950 chipset along with Mali-T880 GPU to take care of graphics. It packs 4GB of RAM paired with 32GB of internal storage space which can be further expanded up to 128GB by a microSD card.
In addition to the two 12 MP cameras at the back, it has an 8 MP sensor at the front to cater the needs of selfie enthusiasts. A 3,000mAh battery provides to the juice for the device.
Latest connectivity features
In terms of connectivity options, the Honor 8 has latest features such as Smart Dual- Antenna Switching, Wi-Fi + 3.0 Dual band Switching, Carrier Aggregation in addition to the standard connectivity options.
Honor 8 Smart
Honor 8 Smart, the smaller sibling of the flagship-level Honor 8 is priced at Rs. 19,999. It features the same 5.2-inch Full HD display as seen on its bigger brother but packs 2GB of RAM coupled with 16GB of internal storage space. It is equipped with the Kirin 650 processor and a single 13 MP camera at the back takes care of the imaging department. It also has 8 MP selfie shooter at the front and is backed by a 3,000mAh battery for the juice.
Honor Holly 3
In addition to the two smartphones mentioned above, Honor has also launched another smartphone named as the Holly 3. It is worth mentioning the fact that the Holly 3 is the company's first smartphone under the ‘Make in India.'
This 4G device is priced at Rs. 9,999 and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with a layer of EMUI 4.1 on top of it. Under the hood is a Kirin 620 chipset along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage space (expandable up to 128GB).
